ParticipantRe: Fridge-Freezer: Bush or Swan?
Hello again. There is a small, but not totally nonexistent, possibility that I may be able to go up to 50cm wide. In which case, I would be able to add Lec, and maybe Zanussi, into the brand mix. Are either one of these two better? It’s got to be frost free, with a reasonably-sized freezer (ie not tiny on top of the fridge compartment), but otherwise I’m open to recommendations or comments? Thank you…

Cripes. Thanks K. If anyone knows of any other <48cm-wide frost-free fridge-freezers, I am all ears, otherwise I will have zero choice but to go for one or the other…

Hello, I’m actually in exactly the same situation now, and just joined here after seeing this forum touted on Moneysavingexpert’s boards! The flat I’m buying is a total reno, with a tiny open-plan kitchen (roughly 2.5m x 2.2m) in a U-shape. The budget of £400 would be ideal but I’m really not finding much in that price range!
I’m springing for a new IKEA METOD kitchen, but research online recommends I source appliances first so that I can design around them. I wanted to go freestanding for everything so that they’re easier to swap out/maintain if things go wrong.
I’ve wanted a SMEG fridge forever, but that is stratospherically out of budget! So I found similar £600-£700 retro styles by Gorenje (RF60309OW) and Miele (KDN12823S-1) that I might stretch to, though it worries me that the Gorenje’s not frost-free. Never heard of Gorenje until today; seeing these posts makes me a bit more reassured! Any thoughts on these two? Or are they both terrible and am I falling for style over value here??
I got an Argos voucher so it’d be ideal to buy from there, but no biggie if not (can always use it on a TV later 😛 ). The cookers Argos sell are between Beko, New World, Bush and Hotpoint. A few threads on this board have put me off Hotpoint, but what about the others? Or is this one where I should just spring for the IKEA inbuilt ovens/hobs (the one at my parents’ house seems pretty OK)?
Lastly, washing machine/dryer… I could make this my Argos spend instead of the cooker, maybe. In which case, the available brands are Hotpoint/Indesit/Candy/Hoover – any strong feelings I need to know about either of these?
Sorry for the essay; I know this is all as vague as they come, but literally no idea where to start… would love any opinions about my starter-set!
