As Boro said and also worth a check is the 1 foot ribbed pipe from sump front to pressure chamber on l/h side; it gets gunged up.

Hi
On Auto it utilises the turbidity sensing part of the appliance, in as much it looks at water quality and adjusts the duration of the wash accordingly.
I have had a faulty module not instigating teh diverter unit on the heater unit thus not supplying water correctly to either top or bottom depending on where it was when module failed.
