ParticipantRe: Just bought a new Bosch SMS50e02 but……………..
or si there the simple possibility I have not tightened it enough? Thought I used plenty of (female) force. I am a bit fearful of seeing if I can tioghten it further as the mains water is back on – should I drain again, disconnect everything again to tighten or not??

wel today I bought a new metal thing and the hardware shop explained about th ‘olive’. The old one was stuck but I managed to get it off using some female ingenuity and not breaking anything.
I also managed to eventually drain the water but for some reason it kept filling up a bit when I shut taps (overnight and again this aternoon). Air lock or something else?
Now I managed to fit the new connector although did struggle to figure out how to ‘grasp’ the larger piece to stop it from turning – so I let it turn and fortunately it ended a sensible position facing me. Phew. (is right next to wall so had a bit of a squeeze twirling round)
Anyhow I watched it and let water back on – looked good. watched longer… looked good – even got dishwasher connected – good. Diswhasher on – good …….. BUT after about 15 mins or so I noticed one small drop forming – seems to take this long for one drip….
Is this a massive problem? It is dripping the ‘bolt’ side onto copper pipe not the longer piece.
Does this mean I have to panic. Can I leave it for a couple fo days until I either try again or get a plumber??? seems a shame for a plumber to charge me a fortune when I got soooo close!. I guess I’ll have to drain again, disconnect and connect again… using this white tape thing??
Is the white tape any good or just a sign of a botched job??
Help!
Thanks

I hate to say it considering the mess I’ve made so far but nope he hasn’t got much diy skills… usually string and glue! Having said that he did coe rushing to the rescue and despite the stupid pipe not wanting to close back did manage to close it. My punishment was having to clean the foor behined (yuKkkkk!!) and mop up floods. It has strangey cheered him up to see me make a mess of something (for a change it is not him!! 😉 )
so water slowly draining …. leaving water off overnight and suffering the cold bath I’ve filled. Then I guess I need to get another cut-off valve blue lever thing?? Don’t fancy taking dishwasher pipe off ever again without a working cut-off thingie. Is there aa better quality one than this not-so-brilliant blue one (was not that old either!!)
now am having glass of wine…………………

Just now managed to mop up the floods. now am concerned that the washing machine may be ‘contaminated’ bat its back y water spouting across from the aforementioned pipe.
Silly me not thinking of switching water off (somewhere).
So – how long do electrics need to ‘dry’ out if you think water got too close??
also how long should it take for water to shhut off.. have switched off mains water now and am running all cold water pipes. have switched off boiler and hot water / heating.
argh………. him indoors not too impressed with me at the moment – and his food is cold. Have filled up couple of buckets with cold water for tomorrow morning before work…. argh again.
what else can I do wrong????

you are a genius! 💡
I checked the end part and turned the blue elevr.. nothing. The metal block thing (like a ball?) did not move and obviously stops water going through. Many many thanks.
Am I right now to presume I can take this end bit off completely and siply connect dishwsher part to the end. Do I need a cut-off thing if all it does it seems is cause problems? I have another cut-off cold water to (again blue lever!!) under the sink along with the hot water one. Or should I buy another end piece with a new blue lever gizzmo thing?
Thanks and love you lots and lots!!
