ParticipantRe: Buying New Fridge/Freezer – Any recommendations
Hi,
Just a quick update. We went into John Lewis and placed an order for the Bosch KGH39V03 FF. It looked quite nice.
http://www.johnlewis.com/230480977/Product.aspx
It comes with 2 Years guarantee , along with 2 extra years on the Credit Card I am buying it on. Thats 4 years in total.
Thank you for your replies and help.
Have a nice weekend.
Jas.

I agree, those were the good old days. :rolls: Nowadays the parts cost more than the product.
I shall check out the Liebherr and Miele range, but I suspect it shall be expensive.
Thanks for replying.

Thank you very much for your reply Don.
I shall have a look at them later today. We are planning on going on a FF hunt all day tommorow, John Lewis is first choice, as most of our appliances/electronics are from there.
I was also looking at the BOSCH.
I am also considering the following
Zanussi ZNB343W
http://www.johnlewis.com/230482259/Product.aspxZanussi ZNB323W
http://www.johnlewis.com/230421163/Product.aspxand
Hotpoint FFB6200AP
http://www.johnlewis.com/230485854/Product.aspxThese are quite largish FF’s which will fit the space in our kitchen.
I shall check out some more aswell.
Our last Indesit FF lasted my parents 27 years without any problems, when it went, it just stopped working altogether. But 27 years, thats what I want…
Thanks again Don.

Thanks.
Did the engineer tell you how much those parts would cost?
I don’t think I have cover, I’ll need to check the paperwork.
Thank you very much for replying.
Could you let me know here or via a PM if your FF gets fixed?
have a nice weekend.

ParticipantLeaving the ISE machines to one side, lets believe they don’t exist.
What do members here think a low to mid ranged Bosch?
How easy are they to repair?
I have a week, before I have to make my mind up and buy whatever I think is good.

ParticipantSweet, will do. Report back in two days.

ParticipantI have just read the links, very helpful.
I am leaning more towards a Bosch (or even a Zanussi).
My parents say “Get a cheap indesit”. Thats purely based on this last machine, which was quite cheap.
But I know that cheap doesn’t mean its going to last long.
We use the machine on average nearly everyday. At least 6 times a week (7 people to cater for).
I also like the Miele machines, but they cost alot, however I have seen one at John Lewis with 10 years garuntee, but going for £799.99. Thats too much for me currently.

ParticipantIs there anything I can do myself? What would I be looking for? Any pointers?

ParticipantRe: New Washing Machine Recommendation
Hello,
Thank for your email.
No you are right, I think that was the cost of the machine including the extended warrenty which my parents took out on it at that time.
Thanks for the links, I’ll be reading them later.
I like the idea of a 5 year warrenty. I’ll check out the ISE 5 machine.
My budget is actually around the £300 to £400 mark, just for a standalone Washing Machine. I don’t know how much a good Washer Dryer would cost, hence the £600 price tag.
Which other brands are good to give a miss?
Anymore views would be helpful.

Thanks for the support helo_75.
I’ll be starting a new thread regarding the new machine, as soon as I have browsed this site and others, probably sunday.
If anybody can advise me, I would like to know how to take the front of the machine off, I still havn’t got around to doing to yet, been out of action due to a bad cold.
Are there any parts on the indesit, which would be classed as “generic”, which can fit other machines?
Apart from this knocking sound, the machine is strong as a bull.
Thanks again and enjoy your weekend guys 8)

Cheers Steve.
Just checked my email, got a price for the whole inner drum assembly – £132.15. 😯
Well that settles that then.
I believe I’ll go for a new washing machine.
But I am still taking the indesit apart anyway, 😈 just for the sake of it. Been doing alot of reading about washing machines, be a shame to waste all that time spent.
Thank you to Steve, iadom, Penguin45, Goatboy, Toolbox, helo_75 and maltheviking.

cockney steve wrote:Jaspal…you will need to get the complete tank-assembly out….remove the motor,door-seal,main drive-pulley etc. then you can take the front off the outer-tank and will probably need a soft-metal (brass or aluminium) drift to knock the main shaft/inner drum through to separate them
….it sounds as though the 3-spoked spider /shaft assembly is permanently fixed to the inner drum and you have to buy the complete assembly.
It would be foolish to reassemble without fitting new bearings and a seal (all comes in a kit)
IMHO, It’s not worth the time/efort/cash on that machine.Hi, Thank you for your post.
I actually don’t mind doing the work, might sound crazy, but I wanted to fix this myself.
If the price of the parts is alot, say £100, then I am not going to bother. The machine has given us a good 9+ years of no problems.
Just wondering, can you take the front panel of the machine off? If you can, how is this done?
Time to think it through.
Thanks again.
ps. Just wondering, what is this part for?

Penguin45 wrote:Please check the Forum Rules. We have gone as far as we can on the advice front, now you have to figure it out.
I can tell you that the drum comes out through the top, and clearing everything from the top of the machine is crucial. You shouldn’t need to disconnect any wiring at the top, but take piccies just in case. You’ll have to disconnect down on the drum, so diagrams and piccies are essential. Release hoses and suspension legs, put the machine on its side and haul away.
Stay safe – power off first.
Penguin45.
Thanks you Penguin45.
You said that “The entire tank assembly has to be removed for fitting, as the drum goes through the front.”
That coupled with your statement above has confused me abit. 😕 .
If you read them separately, you will understand.
Thank you for the part number. Is that just for the broken arm? Is the arm permanently attached to the inner drum? Is there a picture of this in the Spares & Accessories section where you can point me to?

Penguin45.
Thanks.
I have moved the machine into the garage. Could you give me a few points on how to take it all apart?
