Re: How to remove ceramic top on Zanussi ZCE 7700X

I don’t see a regulator listed as a part, is that part of the element or part of the control switch?

It was working okay on old element and just suddenly stopped working, when I took the old one out the element had burned through at one point, could this have caused a fault with the regulator?

I have managed to access and fit the replacement element and I took photographs of the wiring in the hob and switches, then wired the replacement exactly but it is a permanently live state.

I checked the wiring again and everything is as it was removed from the old one. Has anyone got any suggestions?

    Hi Dave,
I have finally plucked up the courage to continue with the saga if you have the patience to carry on giving me advice?

When you say disconnect one of the main wires, do you mean one of the two black ones that are together on the opposite side of the motor or do you mean one of the two red ones just above your arrow in the photo?

I have bought a multimeter, it’s just a cheap one that the village hardware shop had in stock..

    Hi Dave,
I don’t have a multimeter, I did have one but could never figure out how to use it.

We are going out tonight so I won’t be able to look at it until the morning.

I’m just wondering if I should just buy another motor?

But I will still have the issue of these two wires that have become detached from somewhere.

I’ve had the motor out again and I don’t see anything wrong with the wiring, all the pins on the motor seem okay. I didn’t take the plastic cover off the module but nothing obviously wrong. There was a slight hot smell last night when I was trying to run the motor with the terminals in the wrong place!
Motor goes straight on to what I would think is high speed spin, no matter where in any programme, it doesn’t even try to reverse for the washing action.

At least the suspension fix has worked, no clattering and banging!

I’m going to have a look at the wiring and motor as you suggested, getting a bit fed up with this now!
I must have upset something when trying to fit the anti twist kit, there was a lot of pushing and pulling of the drum.

Any idea about these two wires Dave and if they could have caused it to spew water out the dispenser overflow?

Finally found it, those terminals just didn’t look the same as I expected.

Fired it up and motor sprang into life!

Thanks you so much gentlemen, I must have had you as demented as I was!

    fantastic!!

However my joy has been short lived, when I switched it on programme C it took in water and seemed to go straight into spin, that’s when the water came surging out of the dispenser overflow.!

I took the top off again and I spotted two broken wires, must have happened when I was wrestling with the anti twist kit. one is yellow with black stripe and the other is yellow with white stripe. they are just under the water inlet valves and have a white spiral shield round them?

    Dave

I don’t think it’s quite the same, I have attached a photo of the way that I have mine.

Not sure how to describe it Dave,
One brush only has one terminal, the other one two that appear to be bridged.

on that side I have 4 terminals two are occupied and the middle 2 are bridged. I have the brush connected to the right hand one.

    Re: Hoover Logic 1200 A3786

I checked the new carbon brushes and discovered that one was only just touching the armature and the other wasn’t touching at all. They were a wee bit tight, so I rubbed them down with emery paper and resolved that problem. Armature was a bit grey and manky so I cleaned that. The noise has now gone but the motor will barely turn and smells a bit hot.
Do you think the motor is knackered?

    Re: Hoover Logic 1200 A3786

After a bit of a struggle I’ve managed to fit the new anti twist kit and new brushes.

I have the feeling that I have done something wrong when replacing the brushes.

Stupidly, I took the old ones out before the new ones arrived, so I may have done something wrong?

When the machine tries to engage the motor there is a noise like a Drrrrr Drrrr and no sign of life from the motor. There may have been a slight spark around the brushes but it’s difficult to see.
the drum and motor both turn freely by hand.

Hopefully, I have just fitted the brushes incorrectly, have any of you experts any suggestions and hopefully just tell me that I have done something daft?

I wouldn’t like to think it was a bin job after all this work! :eeek:

Took the lid off and the drum is decidedly twisted to left hand side!
