ParticipantRe: Hoover TC65 Tumble Dryer
Hi,
Thanks for your response.
Yes I found the other thermostat after much searching and tracing wires around. I joined the two connectors together with a piece of wire and tried again, but still no heat!!??
Would a fault on the timer control also affect the heater? I’m begining to think the problem must be elsewhere as the heater seems ok and bypassing the thermostats makes no difference?
I’m going to do a bit more investigating tomorrow, but any suggestions would be welcomed.
Thanks

Peter,
The programmer reset was as follows:
With machine switched off…..
Switch on (Press On/Off switch on door)
Press program button 4 times within 2 secs
Wait 15 secs *
Switch off* This step was not as advised by the Smeg help people, but it was on a web site I found. Waiting 15 secs seemed to work for my machine, whereas switching off immediately didn’t.
Hope this may help

Oh that great!
I’ve got some technical sheets which I printed off a Smeg web site – there are a number of tests to try for the E2 fault, so I’ll try these and see what happens.
Thanks

K,
Thanks for your very swift response!
As I said, the lights on the display don’t correspond to that error message, but I will check further on this anyway. You said the “famed E2 error” – can you tell me more about this? Also any idea what component might be to blame….. or is it not that simple?
