Thanks for that. I imagine that I should be able to get the pump cheaply enough if the whole price was quoted at $100 Aussie. Could you advose me of the sort of places you usually source them from please? Sorry to be such a pain. Thank you so much.

How easy is it to replace the pump yourself please?

    Thanks

Thank you. I have been been offered a Hoover which needs pump replacing which I can get done for approx. $100. I know Hoover to having been reliable in the past so I am wondering if that is better. After the Ariston, I am so uncertain as to the best thing to do but I definitely cannot afford new, especially for the better machines.

Thanks so much, you have been most helpful indeed.

    Best wishes

Thanks. Sad. I would have preferred it be fixable but appreciate the honesty.

Yes, it did look like grey metal. Seems surprising for a machine that wasn’t meant to be that old.

What front loaders do you recommend please? I am in Australia. It would seem that I will have to replace the top loader soon enough so I will be looking at FL when I need to.

    Thanks

Okay, now the problem recurred so I cleaned it out again and another “lump” and a 5 cent piece came out this time. Then I put on a laod just to spin as the last load didn’t seem quite spun enough. The drum made a racket and wouldn’t turn. I thried to see if it spun easily by hand and it did seem to move okay. However, I heard a scraping sound and turned the power off and opened the back panel. When moving around the belt, the drum doesn’t turn but the wheel catches a few times on it’s way around. I didn’t know where to go from there. Thanks in advance for any further advice, Melissa

I did what you said with the filter and so far so good. Of course I may be talking too soon but the blade wasn’t turning and something seemed to pop out of it though for the life of me, I cannot find where it went to.

This time, it has suds which means that the water has gone through the dispenser whereas last time there were no suds.

Yes, it appears to be going through the cycle properly now thank you. Only thing is I now have a laundry and kitchen full of water because I didn’t have the drainage pipe in the sink Argh!

Really, Thanks so much. I am so, so happy!!!

    Hi. Thanks for responding.

It alternates between a few slow “washes” and “spins” tehn when it tries to go to the next phase, it clicks around constantly and flashes internittently five times.

Also, the water only came up to half way between the bottom of the barrel and the first lot of “lugs” that come out about 1/4 of the way up. Is that normal? No clothes in it as I wanted to see if it was working first.

    Thanks

    Help – washing machine – Ariston Margherita 2000 AB95.
Help, I have been given an Ariston Margherita 2000 Washing Machine

As it is an economical brand to run compared to others and we are in drought and it uses less water, I am wondering whether it is worth repairing or should I try to buy a new one which I don’t really have the money for? The lady said it was worth a lot of money 2 years ago when she bought it – over $1000 Australian,

It seems to start the wash mode okay but when it clicks to the next click, – the timer constantly turns making clicking noises, and the wash does nothing. That is what the clicking sound is – the timer button going round and round and round. It didn’t make the noise whilst filling nor washing but it didn’t seem to wash for long nor fill very far but I am not used to a front loader.

I am wondering what it could be? How can I fix it? Can I possibly fix it myself? Is it worth Fixing if I have to pay a repairman?

I also don’t know where to put the soap in the dispenser part as there are three places that the part that comes out divides into. I have only ever used twin tubs and top loaders before but with a severe drought on, I would like to make this workable if possible, and my old machine is just about ready to retire as well. I know I use less detergent, I just don’t know where to put it.

    Thanks
    Melissa
