KeymasterI’m promoting Johnmac so he…
1. stops bugging me about being unable to see this forum
2. starts moderating
3. keeps in touch with what we do
I’ll assume no objections by 9pm tonight and get it done.

KeymasterNo problem, it will get answered just the same.

Deana, you only need to post once to one forum to get a response. 😉

KeymasterTwo of them in here and neither of them is that one… typical. 🙄

KeymasterYes I have used the TPS, FPS and EPS for some time and this is a daily occurence, if not more than once a day. What does surprise me is that it is often companies like Powergen and suchlike, not unknowns that call and they should know better. 😕

KeymasterLaurence are you mad? You just DON’T buy a woman anything remotely useful as a gift! Okay, lingerie you might get away with using some excuse like, “I thought you needed some new knickers” but anything remotely domsticated as a gift round here I’d be wearing it the next day… between my eyes!
As for what I want for Christmas this year… a peaceful day would be nice without thinking on all this stuff and dealing with family would be nice. Ain’t gonna happen though. 😕

KeymasterRe: Another Landmark?
I deliberately avoided telling anyone till it was too late Alex. 😉 I’m like that.
TBH I forgot all about it, kinda. Let’s just say it’s dealt with.

KeymasterRe: Another Landmark?
Yeah Alex, can’t win ’em all I’m afraid, but there are a lot of new people using the site so best just to let it happen.
I think I may even have a small celebratory glass of a rather nice borboun this evening sent to me last week by a very nice man (Ian) and his good lady (Alma) which arrived on Thursday afternoon after a really, really cr@p day and it was very, very welcome at the time. In fact the bottle’s arrival was most uncanny in it’s timing and was the only thing that put a smile on my face the whole day. Funny old world at times. 😕
My thanks again to Ian & Alma for the nice surprise and I’ll toast one to you both and the results in a little while.

KeymasterRead it again Martin. 😉
It states as long as the work does not consist of, then lists that as a condition.
However, I think what this thread has shown is the total state of confusion over Part P and whether or not we’re on the right side of the law. I will post the reply from the NICEIC as soon as I get it as I have asked whether it specifically affects what we do.
Kevin told me something interesting on the subject earlier, but I’ll let him tell his story.

KeymasterRe: Part P Or Not To Part P
I do hope that MFI don’t mind me sharing this little nugget from this morning’s Network News, a newsletter that all the MFI agents should have recieved.
MFI Network News wrote:In summary
It is important to note, that repair of domestic appliances falls out of scope of Part P and does not apply for the work you undertake on behalf of MFI Extracare. It will however, affect you if you are in appliance replacement market.
Provided that the fixed wiring (e.g. the cable the other side of the plug / spur) is not worked upon, you can remove any appliance on the load side of the isolation point. If there is need to extend existing supplies to provide an additional socket or spur, a situation not uncommon during an installation, the person creating this termination to the fixed wiring must be Part P registered or notify the work to the local authority.
We hope this is clear and succinct.
So it will affect those that install appliances by the looks of it and in some ways may well be a good thing as it will push up the cost of installations, perhaps making repairs a more viable option.
Not that I should care really as this only affects England and Wales! 😆

Agreed. I have however emailed the NICEIC for full and final clarification on the matter.
Better to be safe than sorry. 😉

KeymasterYeah Laurence, I have two of them on the shelf as I thought.
List is £49.46 excl, cost is £32.15 excl but I want rid of one at least. Let me know your address and I’ll get it sent later today or tomorrow.
We’ll come to an arrangement as they should really have ben in the subscriber stock along with a load of other stuff I have, just not had the time to do it. 😕
