KeymasterRe: Can anyone confirm…
Let’s try this while sober! 😉
Flipper wrote:As u may know Electrue (Ele) have been setting new agents up in every area. This decsicion will affect their new agents as NESN will take back control of the job.
Not a chuffin’ chance that NESN will *EVER* see that work back now, it just isn’t going to happen and it’s totally unrealistic to expect otherwise. As for control, NESN never had had it! IMO, DSG had the control as they always do since they’re not exactly dumbies. I may not like them or their way of doing business but you have to acknowledge that they are clued up.
Now, do you honestly think that this scenario we’re in now has not come up for discussion at Electrue? They knew this was a likely thing to happen, or something of this ilk, the minute they mooted that they had their own system that they wanted everyone to use.
Flipper wrote:If u want to be an Ele agent outside of the NESN agreement wear a big hat because u will be shit on. (IMHO)
Oh and NESN agents won’t be? 🙄
Who’s going to get their work removed for not complying with Connect then? JT isn’t going to lose his job or livliehood is he, but he expects a lot of these guys to put theirs on the line for his little power struggle?
It is quite feasable that should the work be shifted away from some of the NESN agents that some could go to the wall, so the shit will land on all, not just Electrue agents.
I’m just glad for the moment that I’m not involved with either of them and even happier that I’m not reliant on either. I’m well out of it.
Flipper wrote:P.S. that doesn’t mean I wont consider it at the right price!
LMAO! See, that’s just what I’m talking about, if Electrue come along and put the gun to your head and say, “we’ll give you £45 a call but you ditch NESN” what are you going to do? Like most I suspect you’ll defect to the Electrue camp faster then a speeding bullet, especially since you’re SF and that work should be yours anyway in your particular case.
As for the others, it simply buys Electrue agents and, since they were paying NESN circa £46 a call, they can afford to do that.
Just watch what you sign up for in either case as in both you may well be selling your soul to the devil. 😕

KeymasterYes, I agree fully with that, I’ve never seen UKW as a union or really anything of that ilk. It’s here to inform and educate, no more, no less (at this time) and, that will not change unless it is done so by general concensus and by a vote of all members. Sorry, but I like to play fair and honest.
If anyone wants to discuss it further or the future role of UKW in the industry, start a thread and we’ll all discuss it openly, I don’t have any issue with that at all.

KeymasterRe: Can anyone confirm…
Okay, let’s bear in mind that neither party is whiter than white and neither have a good history either on the management side of things. With that in mind this is what I can see happening…
JT has used the agents as pawns in his political power struggle since there’s no way in hell that all those agents sat in a room are going to all go the same way as JT needs. Want more evidence of that, okay…
This just “happens” to occur in line with the busiest period of the year with holidays looming large. JT just happens to take action the following day and it’s spread about like jam on toast. The fact that it was a *MEMBER* decision is made very clear to all and sundry, so JT is in the clear as he’s only following the wishes of the members. The national meeting was called at a time not normally for a national NESN meeting, noramlly that’s in the summer.
Coincidence, I think not, this was a well laid and executed plan and like lemmings the agents all fell for the bait which is hardly surprising given the current climate, they are not to blame they’ve been very well manipulated.
This is a power struggle between Electrue and NESN, the agents are just cannon fodder and being used as such.
NESN is one issue and they’re not doing you any favours, merely protecting their own, Electrue are doing likewise and, quite frankly, neither could give a flying toss about their agents as this is all about the money.
In the end this manuvour by NESN will do the agents no good whatsoever, Electrue will simply “buy” agents with a higher rate and they will defect when needed. Those they can replace will be replaced by people they can manipulate easier.
End of sermon. 😉

KeymasterWow Rudi, loads there to think about and you’re thinking exactly the same as myself on the costs of all the various points/resons for rejections.
I’ll think about that a bit and post again later today or tomorrow when I get time to answer properly.

KeymasterWell, we’ll see what shakes out but I should imagine that SF will not be too happy at this event and it will be remembered. I always wonder why that often these people burn bridges behind them like that.
Oh well never mind, wonder who Beko will try next because I’ll tell you this, I’m not doing a pot change on a Beko incl. sundries for £45, they can forget that for a plan.

KeymasterThe clarification directly from the people that are responsible is very good I think, welcome Steve and enjoy the read.

KeymasterVery interesting if NESN terminated Electrue and a hell of a gamble on JT’s part as well. I respect the chance he’s taking but he won’t succeed if what I think he’s up to, he really is up to. 😕
The WK thing I heard some snippets on today, basically EAC are increasing their share of the work, whatever that means. They are also supposed to be looking at direct diect agents as well. So that’s a bit of a mess really.

KeymasterYou won’t be impressed then Del? 😉
Well I have a load of them constantly on my case chasing reports and updates, a lot of them for no apparent reason.
This goes back to the old software thing though, can they not all agree somewhere a set standard to allow remote comms in this day and age, or are they all as skint as we are and simply cannot afford to do it?
