Hi Andy, those are weird numbers.

The only reference to the model I could find was a Whirlpool machine but, I’m not sure that’s what this is.

If you could email a photo or two into spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk either Dave or I should be able to get them from that I would hope.

Ignis is a Whirlpool brand and I would expect, given that they do have regional specific product, that you will only get one locally. I’d very much doubt you will get it outside the country or continent.

Usually we can’t even see the parts let alone anything else for products not sold in our regions.

    Re: rapport

Rapport is constantly being updated Ally and the user base has steadily increased. 😉

There’s been the likes of major changes to the like of the diary based on what users tell us, it’s been made a lot prettier, it’s going to be able to talk to more than it currently does as that’s in development now. We just plod on ticking off the stuff that’s most important to users first wherever possible.

I can tell you there’s some exciting stuff for it in the future. But, I’m not going to tell you what it is. 😆

What I don’t do, perhaps mistakenly, is come on here and start trumpeting every little change that’s been made but, if you looked at Rapport a year ago and looked at it today there’s a world of difference in it.

What we have found though is that it works out best if we advise on installation and help people with that so, best bet is to get hold of Sudeep and let him help you through that bit of it. Makes your life easier.

If you think about it Ally and extrapolate those numbers to a national level, it’s a flaming’ miracle more of them don’t go up in flames than currently do!

I can’t be sure as I’m not familiar with that machine and do not have access to any technical info but it does sound like either a thermistor/thermostat issue.

Works the other way youd as well Andy, I’ve had them on email and the web comments asking if their Whirlpool dryers are safe!

You won’t be shocked to learn almost every time the thing’s got a fault on it.

Same sort of thing with the White Knights as well and their recall, people asking if their model (that isn’t listed) is affected as it’s bust and the suspicion is that they’re angling for a free repair by way of a recall.

I suspect all people see is the hoopla around tumble dryer safety, fires and such and reckon they can get something out it. Perhaps I’m being overly cynical but, history teaches me that… 😉

But yeah, the biggest single problem here so far as I can see is the customers, their use and care (or lack thereof) of the machines.

Re: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers

Like I’ve said, time and time again to media, industry and government, there is no way you can make these things 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} safe. It simply is not possible.

Mostly as you cannot control the stupid things some people do with them or how well they maintain them.

So all they can do is bay for blood. Evident in that, as is rightly pointed out, they have a pop at the new owner who when they bought it, didn’t know they were buying a heap of trouble. Now they have to try to sort it.

The people that may have held some responsibility are probably breathing a huge sigh of relief. Cashed in their chips and bogged off if they’ve any sense about them.

Or they consolidate the network down to larger companies who, given that most of their work is then from one source, have little choice but to do what they’re told or face losing it and being put out of business.

There’s a bit of a problem with that these days however… nowhere to move the work to.

So you have to ask, who needs who more?

Re: washing machine for tough conditions

    Yup, absolutely none at all.

None of them are designed for outdoor or adverse conditions. Or even commercial use for that matter.

Soon as you take them out of a normal domestic setting you are faced with the problem that they may not work or break soon after and you’ll probably find yourself with no warranty cover at all.

If someone reminds me tomorrow I’ll trawl the old stuff and see what I can find… back to microfiche and old manuals I expect. Probably like a lot of the cold war era stuff! 😆
