    Nope.

Look at Elica hoods, much better.

Cheap ones make a noise, light up and little else.

Re: Indesit cooker hood lights won’t turn off

My suggestion, buy a new hood.

The switch module assembly in that one is listed at £119!!

    Madness.

Sounds as if the switch or module is faulty but we’d need the model number to look any further.

The trouble is Martin, all too often the media are looking for answers that fit the story… even if they may not be “convenient” for the narrative.

So they can (Note: don’t always) go looking to get the answers that fit, even if they may not be factually correct.

The reality here is and, I will stress there’s little love lost between WP, HP etc. and myself, that what is going on fire is the lint inside the dryers given that metal doesn’t burn well.

The lint gets there because people don’t clean the filter and/or condenser. They get blocked, the air is then forced to go where it shouldn’t, carries lint into the cavity, it builds up and eventually the dryer either fails or goes up. Unless someone can suggest anything else, that’s it, this is pure and simple failure to maintain the machine.

Where HP have a problem (I think from looking at the mod et all) is that the lint forced back is getting to the heater and building up there offering fire a great place to take hold. I believe that the point of the mod is to remove that build up and/or stop it from happening.

What it won’t do though is prevent it if people do not maintain the dryer correctly.

My fear here is that people, after having the mod done, will just carry on regardless and not bother thinking that they’re totally safe and don’t need to bother.

Therefore, even after they have been “fixed” don’t be shocked if we see them still catching light.

Of course, in every single instance, every single customer without exception has maintained the filters, vac’d the thing out and all the rest.

What we see in the field I don’t think is ever that!

    Re: Smeg WD1 12C

If I recall correctly, it was altered.

The original element has aplastic cover thing on it that hides the thermistor whereas on the replacement (link below) it can plainly be seen.

Seems that the Swan machine (according to Alice Beer) was made by WP so, it’s not one of the HP ones.
