I take it that you will be working for this service, that I think is just a rip off vehicle, given that you seem to be awfully keen to promote it to people and you seem to be familiar with it?
I’m just confused as you say you don’t do contract work but, this is a very high cost contract work type service if it is what I think you’re referring to, the only difference being that you aren’t paid on account, you pay a fee per call after the event. It’s not all that different.
Best thing you can do is skip paying this bunch of whatever to do a bit of legwork for you and get the work yourself, save paying them £12-£20+ a call for the “honour” of them passing you work you’d probably get anyway with even a half decent website. I certainly wouldn’t be paying some parasite in the middle to trawl the internet for me.
But it is off topic and I’d ask you and others to draw a halt to that train of thought on this thread. If you want to discuss the merits and otherwise of another service please do so on another thread.
From what I’ve been told, this work like some other stuff floating about is being punted out at lower that what I’d think were the usual high 40’s to fifties for a range of work, mostly easy enough stuff, to do just the things others don’t want or cannot do.
It’s harder, needs more skills, more time and will often be a double call. With the rates I’ve seen, you wouldn’t be able to make money on it I wouldn’t think.
If I was offered such low rates these days I think I’d take the same dim view of it and politely refuse the work. But, to each their own.

KeymasterRe: February 2016 Conference
We’ve started to build the foundations of some of what we’ll be talking about and so on. As ever I will be very deliberately evasive on the details for reasons explained oh so often before.
Obviously the big recall thing will get a mention.
The state of the repair side of things, may touch on spares and how we see it going forward.
We will wander from repairs however and into other areas surrounding that and, it will include info from other markets, not just the UK.
And again, as usual, I will ask that if there is any specific topic that anyone wants to be highlighted, looked at or whatever, to let myself or Lawrence know as soon as you can so that if it’s possible we can build it in.

So far as I am aware they are preferentially using WTA members.

KeymasterRe: Fagor Class A Oven
HI Lee,
If it’s a manufacturer warranty that was supplied “free” with the product and the manufacturer is no longer trading then the responsibility that the retailer has is essentially nothing in practice unless that is, that you can prove that the oven was faulty from new.
If you can prove that there was a fault from new then you may have some claim but do keep in mind that it would take into account depreciation and recession therefore any amount you could hope to get is likely to be very small. To be honest most people would probably find it insulting.
Just as happened when the likes of Rover went bust, resale values take a tanking and, they are never great to begin with when it comes to appliances.
My advice would be to save yourself a lot of hassle and not pursue it, see if the retailer will offer a discount on a replacement or something as a goodwill gesture as that’s probably about what you’d get back anyway.

KeymasterRe: Smeg Di6012
If it’s 82855 on the attached Tim then the part number is 758973825, listed here on the store or your usual suppliers…

There seems only to be a Di6012 and a Di6012-1.

I did not know that Lawrence and a handy tip.
That board is in that cooker and is this one:

KeymasterRe: SMEG SUK91MFA element on full heat
I know it has the four heating elements, but you weren’t clear on what element was on and which faulty. 😉
If it’s one of the fan elements coming on full tilt when power’s applied the only thing I can think of is either the selector switch faulty or a wiring problem of some sort. If it’s wiring the only thing to do is sit down and try to figure it out.
There are thermostats but they are safety ones, they wouldn’t cause this I wouldn’t think.

KeymasterRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
Yeah it does look a bit iffy, I thought that as well Steve. Probably in a basement of something.
Doesn’t much matter though does it? Regardless the last guy there is going to carry the can unless they can prove the customer is at fault which, since it happened so soon after is likely to be incredibly difficult to do if possible.
The same sort of thing’s been happening in Australia with the Sammy washers that go up in flames, even after being modified. Okay, so that’s a plastic bag and a dollop of hope it’ll be okay in Samsung fashion but the point is that the last person that signed off on it as being “safe” is who’s in the frame if it can be proved that wasn’t true.
A “Nuremberg Defence” of, “I was only following orders” is not likely to cut it if it went to court as the person attending is supposed to be capable and competent or, they shouldn’t be doing it. Therefore you should be competent enough to know if it were safe or not and, to have tested it.
But hey, for those that want to take this on, you knock your cotton socks off.

There are four elements in that oven, what one is it that heats constantly which is a desperately unusual problem?

KeymasterRe: Adrian Welke
No Jim, he’s on about the WTA stuff, where a lot of his vitriol is directed most often if not just at myself and Lawrence personally.
He’s just like a child, still in a huff because he got told no when he wanted us to promote his business of the moment a few years back to WTA members from the front, i.e. myself and Lawrence to do it for him as he was too sh1t scared to go on stage and present his ideas.
Because we said no, apparently everything is our fault.
We said no as we though the idea was :poo: and had told him so several times before we even got to that point.
But heh ho.

KeymasterRe: Adrian Welke
He struck again over the weekend due to someone allowing him access or to view the site under their account or, somebody’s been copying/pasting/screen grabbing. I do not know who although obviously know who was online in the period although it’s impossible to be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain who it was. However I have narrowed the field but as I can’t be totally sure I’m not naming names.
He posted the following:
Adrian Welke wrote: It’s like a ray of sunshine coming on here! I find it hard to find a thread where news is good or nice things are said about anyone (No Ken, that’s not an attempt at HTML, that’s just a ‘mick take‘)… Anyway…
I read the last couple of posts and wonder just how far Twatt’s hand is up Lawrences backside! – One posts, then another reiterating then adding some more drivel within minutes! I mean, it’s as if it’s been planned via Whatsapp 😐
Leave people be? There’s only about 30 – 50 people that read your trollop anyway! If work is on offer, why not let people make up their own minds rather than try your scaremonger tactics to scare the few readers you have away? That’s just sad… Proper sad!
In fact – It’s almost as sad as Ian Dales posting in your Team Forum about NAC and requesting that Lawrence ‘Grandstand’ the WTA to NAC until you jumped in with a link to that drivel thread. Or the post in the Team Forum about NAC Online – Was it called ‘illegal’? That had no replies from your allies (And no – To my knowledge, nobody at NAC has been dragged through the fiery coals of the courts for VAT Evasion) or even more sadder, the ‘Wrong Answer’ thread in the WTA Team Forum you started in December about what people think of the WTA & UKW Link that nobody has replied to! – Jeeeeez Ken – Chill out a bit! You’re like a mad man!
My view and opinion is – If you’re contacted – DO NOT just blow the opportunity away because Mr Watt of UK Whitegoods writes sh1t… Talk to the caller, negotiate your own terms and rates then go from there. Simples! After all… Everyone is different and each to their own 😉
A little bit snide I thought. Perhaps even crossing a line or several.
My response was perhaps, this time, more in keeping with something that he may be able to grasp and understand and my patience for him is now well past the expiration date…

If you had a brain cell you’d maybe present a challenge but, as you don’t, you’re just a minor annoyance kinda like a bad smell that just lingers.
Print this where you like, I really don’t give a toss what you and your “mates” think.
I’ve only published it here in the interests of completeness and to let you guys see what’s gone off and why it got kicked into touch. As, all that is, is a personal attack on myself and perhaps Lawrence, no more and no less.
If I get to the bottom of who allowed him access I am highly likely if not certain to arbitrarily ban them for abuse of the forum. Especially so for the abuse of trust leading to this donkey being given an excuse to spout his sh1t.

Yeah they do but it’s a lot smaller an operation these days.
I think they’ve been drafted to do this as well, so far as I know.
