Is this an option for me? Could you provide any guidance? I have to say that I’ve no idea where the filter is 😕
Thanks for your patience.

Dryer control stats
Condensate chamber blocked or partially blocked
Door opened too soon with no cool-down allowed
Fan motor failureHi kwatt and thanks for replying.
WRT number 2 on your list, can you confirm that that is the aluminium casing on the top where the fan is? That casing is clear of obstruction and the fan rotates freely. Might there be a blockage elsewhere?
WRT number 1 on your list, is the thermostat the other “round” device in the casing and could I test it with a meter?
I can hear the fan working so I can discount that one but opening the door too soon will happen often despite attempting to re-programme wife.
Thanks again in anticipation.

So what’s the bottom line here guys? Is the part faulty? Presumably my statutory rights entitle me to a replacement?
Thanks.

iadom wrote:Bear in mind that it is likely to fail again in no time at all unless you have fully cleaned out the dryer filter and housing and made sure the fan will spin freely.
You have to dismantle to change this stat.
If those things are OK then it may last a few months. :rolls:
Thanks very much for that info. The new part lasted 3 weeks and I’m not a happy bunny.
Can I just make sure I looked where I should have to clean? I split the aluminium fan casing and there was no lint in it and the fan was free to spin. Is there anything I’ve missed or do you reckon the part was faulty?
Many thanks.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WD640 F-13 Error
Well there was no lint in the fan casing and I have fitted the new widget.
My dryer is working now for the princely sum of £10 thanks to all who have helped in this thread.
Thank you!

If it is O/C then has it failed?
Thanks 🙂

ParticipantRe: Been given a Hoover Electronic 1100 they any good?
We had one of those, bought in 1983, gave it to my mum in 1987 and was still working when she got rid a couple of years ago. Brushes were the only thing to ever need replacing. Not sure why my mum got shut …

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WD640 F-13 Error
OK understood.
Sorry to be a PITA but how do I get to the fan and filter in order to check and clean them?
As far as I can tell I can get in to the machine by removing the top or via a small access panel on the back at the bottom.
Thanks for your patience with a newbie 🙂

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WD640 F-13 Error
Thanks very much for that info. The TOC measures open circuit with one end disconnected, I’m guessing that that means it’s died but can you confirm?
The element is OK.
I also managed to break the clip that holds the connector of the NTC in, grr! I guess the heat made the plastic brittle. Are these bits expensive?
Thanks again for your help 🙂

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WD640 F-13 Error
OK it seems I was wrong about the dry cycle completing normally because now I get no error code but the dryer is not getting warm. I’ve not metered out the element yet but could someone translate what NTC stands for please and its role in the dryer circuit?
Many thanks.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WD640 F-13 Error
The error code came on when I tried to use it on high temp dry but it didn’t come on when I chose the lower temp. They dry cycle completed OK which is why I thought it might be a build up of lint. I haven’t attempted to repeat this yet.

Anyone? 😕

ParticipantRe: Belling XOU270 Bottom Element
Many thanks for that. Is that the panel held on by 4 self-tappers? I did try removing that but it wouldn’t budge. Do I need to apply a little brute force?
Thanks again.
