On the assumtion that you have built the oven housing unit using an “appliance tower shelf pack”

    :boops:
Oh dear. The housing was previously being used as a lader cupboard. I’ll look into getting the pack you’ve mentioned, many thanks for the info 🙂

    Re: Hotpoint Oven

Thanks Don. Well our washer dryer and dishwasher are over five years old now and the only problem we’ve had was with the thermal cut-out on the dryer, which I fixed thanks to the helpful souls on here 🙂

So my logic was that, if their ovens are as reliable as their laundry machines then I should be OK.

It looks very sleek too, which should please the wife, which is no mean feat 😉

    Regards,
    Keith.

Thanks K, it’s a pukka cooker supply (not the 13A ring main) so it looks like I’m in the clear. 🙂

Hi Don, thanks for replying. Yes it’s a 4 plater that I’m after, up to about £400. It’s going above an oven so I guess that’s the induction type out, which is a shame, I quite fancied one of those.

I thought I’d provide an update on this. I did as helo_75 suggested back in 2009 and the machine has been working perfectly ever since, so many thanks for sharing your experience there helo_75 🙂

    Thanks for your reply 🙂

The motor itself is silent when I take off the fan blade assembly, the noise seems to come from the rubber grommet/bearing end of the assembly. I tried some high melting point grease which helped for a while but now it’s noisy again.

Maybe it’s just one of those things to get used to and ignore, like the missus 😆

Re: Kenwood CKBU 330 Double Oven Vent Fan

OK I just found a similar post with a reply saying that it’s dangerous to operate without the cooling fan, so unless someone posts otherwise I’ll assume that to be the case (no pun intended) 😀

    Thanks.

works so much better, and the toc never trips again

I’m up for following your advice but I was a bit concerned by the wire snipping aspect, ie which wire to snip and could I achieve the same aim by removing the connector from the valve.?

Thank you! I had to remove the heater box flange from the top of the drum (as well as splitting the heater box) to get to this filter.

At first look it seemed OK but it turned out to be covered with a fine film of lint. I cleaned it and put it back in as I was rather nervous to “remove it and snip the wire to the valve” as advised earlier.

I replaced the thermal cut-out (again) and all seems well, although I don’t think I’ll be using the high temp setting as it was doing this that caused the last cut-out to, erm, cut-out 😆

Thanks again to all who helped.

    problem solved

Hi helo, that sounds wonderfully simple but I’ve no idea where this filter is or what it looks like. Can you give me a clue please?

I really appreciate your patience 🙂

    kwatt wrote:Hi Kwilby,

I’m not as familiar with that washer dryer as IADOM or Helo are but, number two on the list is not the aluminium fan housing. It is the section where the hot air from drying cools, condenses and falls back as water to be drained. If that is blocked, even partially at a critical point, the dryer will overheat for sure. It’s often a large plastic chamber at the back of the drum, but there are other ways.

Dryer control stats, there’s usually always at least two on a washer dryer and one thermal fuse or cut out for safety. They will usually be mounted on the fan housing somewhere.

Although you hear the fan motor running do check that the dryer fan is actually securely mounted to the fan motor shaft as it’s not unknown for them to come loose and the fan not to spin up as it should. If that happens, you will get an overheat.

    HTH

    K.

Thank you K, I will attempt to check all of those things, although there is no rear panel on this machine and it looks as if you have to remove the entire casing in order to gain access.

Could someone confirm if this is so? Any other pointers would also be gratefully received.

    Cheers.
