    OK I have at last got the repair completed and as I suspected it was the fan!!!! So with all the parts that Hotpoint have changed I hope this will give a few more years service.

    Given that you’d likely get less than half the value of a new one if that’s case it may be better to pursue a repair.

    K. Ok thanks, I will pursue a repair. Do you think it could be the fan that supplies the cold air from the freezer to the fridge or do you have any ideas on what could be at fault?

    Thanks Kwatt, I have an extended breakdown policy which as it stands I can get my money back on or I can continue to pursue the repair! Trouble is I don’t think they (Hotpoint) know what to do next!
