    Hi Dave

I can see a a route where I could put an overflow pipe from inside the garage into the garage gutter. The dryer is currently sat on the ground, from the top of the machine to the gutter height is approx 1.5m. So if the dryer was at stacked height, I would still need just over 3 foot to get to gutter height. It was just a thought, But I certainly don’t want to damage the dryer in the process.

    Thanks Don

what would be the implication/risk if the pipe was over 1m? Pump failure?

Oh dear, I don’t like the sad face!!

Does this make it uneconomical to repair?

Thanks Martin, supply seems logical. I did try another socket as per Daves suggestion, but still the same outcome.
I will just have to start the process of elimination I suppose. How strange.

    Thanks again Dave.

Tried that, and at first I thought it had done the trick, but no, still switching off and on.

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks Dave

So tried that while on a quick wash, I opened the door mid cycle (as this often triggers the issue, but will also do it on its own) and the front panel went off. Closed the door left it alone, nothing happened for about 5 mins, then it has now started back up, front panel is on, cycle is going.

    John

It is hinged on the right, and I layed it down on the left hand side ( non hinged, so that the doors would not open)

    BER?

I would charge ‘mates rates’ of £20ish.
If this is unsuccessful, then as Bob said, it could be a seized compressor, then I would say it would be BER.

Don’t suppose you are in Lancashire are you!!?? lol

Goodness me, didn’t mean to start a war on who has the shiniest badge!!

Right, so if I go down the repair route, what is the likely cost, is it still economical to consider?

Chris Blatch wrote:The Samsung shouldn’t need a new compressor, just the pipework reverse purging, easy and cheap to do. New dryer, vacuum down and regas.

As for the Daewoo, they are a cheaper version of the LG SBS, using forced air into the fridge from the freezer, good machine. As Bob said, the most common fault is the fan motor becoming intermittent and an occasional damper motor failing.

    Cheers Chris

Interesting about the repair. Just for more information, the compressor clicks on, buzzes away for approx 15 seconds then clicks back off again. Do you still think it can be saved??

Thanks Bob, looks like I’m looking for something new then!!

I have just read in one of your replies from last year where you rated daewoo when considering low end American style FF, do you still support that??

Currys currently have the DAEWOO DRS30DSMB for £700 down from £1200, but are Daewoo appliances more reliable than their cars!!??

Would you go for this over the Samsung, Beko or LG equivalent at that price?

Is there anyway of fixing a compressor, or is it a case of replacing it??

    Bryan

Thanks for getting back to me. I assume it’s kaput then, or can the compressor be easily replaced?

If it’s a no, do you have any suggestions of what I could try before I give up?? (I’m guessing a big hammer won’t work!!)

    Thanks again
