    Re: Dyson DC04 Belt replacement

As far as I can remember I removed the outer cassing (allan key things)and the clutch outer knob (the colourd bit by carfully prying it off) then ther was a bit of plastic covering the belt this was eather held on by the outer casing or 2 screws I cant remember now??? the cluth unit was held in with screws I remember that much. If yours has auto brush height thingy you have to pop the pivating bit off, it then snaps back into place. putting it back together is the hard part I did it in front of the TV while 8 legged freeks was on and it took me all that time to do it. Mine was a DCO4 so they might be differant.

All I can say is I and people I know use the vinager method and dont have smelly dish washers. It works for me costs next to nothing and is none poluting. I shall continue to use it in the dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, coffee maker, and shower. You should also see the muck it brings out of the caravan water system 😯

Ok all I can say is It dose work for me and I know hundreds of people on the How clean is your house forum and cleaning queens forum that do it and find it works aswell. Its cheeper than dishwasher cleaners and is natural so kinder to the enviroment. White vinager has been used for years in cleaning and is a very affective limescale disolver, I have used in on kettles and coffee makers, and shower heads. I was only trying to give a cleaning tip.

I managed to fit a new clutch (well new to me got it of ebay) but it was a real bugger, the hardest thing was geting the casing back to gether you needed at least 4 hands some the size of a 1 year old. 👿 took about 90 minutes to do it.

I refer you to page 132 second paragraph of the cleaning bible by kim and Aggie.

You can also clean the machine by running it empty with a glassfull of distilled (white) vinegar in the upper rack. At the end of the wash programme it will be left full of water. Examine the remaining water, if there are gritty particales in it the filters or spray arms may be blocked. Check both and run repeated cycles with vinegar to help shift limescale deposits from the water jets, until the remaining water is clear.

Re: Tricity Bendix – Smelly Plates problem

Are you using decent tablets like Fairy Active Bursts or are you using the cheap supermarket branded rubbish?…..questions! questions!

I’ve never used anything other than Lidal’s or Asda’s cheepest and have never had a problem. I do clean the dishwasher out every 3-4 months with a cup of white vinager on a hot wash.

Hard water is better for you than soft so if you do fit a full house sofener make sure the kitchen cold water tap is not conected.
