ParticipantThanks Dave,
My gut feeling is that the door mechanism is the problem. If, as you say it is in the region of £200 for parts, it’s probably not really worth it for a machine that’s probably approaching 10 year old.
Thanks for your input though,

ParticipantAlso, probably should have mentioned that when you select a program or pause, you can hear an audible click from the lock mechanism.

ParticipantHi Dave,
Thanks for your response. I have tried opening the door whilst pulling down on the manual release but unable to open.
With respect to a child lock, I don’t think there is one on this model.

ParticipantThanks so much for the responses. Based on that diagram I’m assuming that the oven has to come out and external casings need to be removed for access?

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool AWM 049 Door seal rubbing and noisy spin
Forget the last post. On further investigation I’m pretty sure that the drum bearings are shot.
Anyone changed them on this model? I’m not sure about splitting the tub as it appears to have clips all around as opposed to bolts. Are these clips reusable or do they have to be replaced?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool AWM 049 drain pump connections
I appreciate it the fact that it is an ac pump but surely the fact that it is also a magnetic pump would mean that polarity of the input connections will determine the direction of the pump rotation.
Why bother labelling the connections L & N.
