Hello Don, yes I’ve had a good read and there is lots of really helpful info on the site. It’s an excellent resource.

Cheers Don. Bosch do an out-of-warranty repair scheme for £14 a month, if the machine is “not economical to repair” they don’t charge you anything and wash their hands of the whole problem so I’ll probably go down this path. At least then I’ve got one of their engineers confirming the machine is no good and I can use that as evidence for a SoGA action.
Stupidly I still thought Bosch meant better quality but it looks like I was mistaken.
For the new machine I’ll go to John Lewis and get a 5 year warranty included. It’s really poor the way they make machines nowadays, how much more would it have added to the price to put a decent bearing in the machine in the first place?

ParticipantRe: Smeg DWI612C freaking out!
Thanks for the advice – i’ve had the machine out, tipped it back and no water came out. I then unscrewed the bottom front cover plate so I could see in the guts of it, and it was dry as a bone.
Any other ideas? If not what (roughly) might we be looking at to get an expert to take a look? I know it’s hard to say without knowing what the problem is but a rough average repair cost would help thanks 🙂

Just had a bit more of a play and not sure if i managed to get it into some sort of test mode? basically I followed the reset procedure but shut the door rather than powering off, the machine started to fill for a while, then started beeping a bit and the following lights came on:
(from left)
light 2 (delicate cycle) steady on
light 5 (intensive cycle) flashingThe lights remained this way even after a power-cycle, in the end they cleared by following the reset procedure but the original fault remains, ie beepbeep, pump for a second, beepbeep, pump for a second ad infinitum.
