Re: Tricity Bendix TM310W only works if I hold the start but

Thanks Quick Fix. The solenoid operates when the srart button is pushed in, but it does not latch in position. The means that when the start button is released, the solenoid drops out. Is ther another part of the circuit which keeps the solenoid engaged, e.g. the timer?????

Thanks guys, finally got around to checking the dishwasher since the original post about a month or so ago.

Finally found the NTC (thanks Clive) and didn’t scrape too much skin with the sharp metal edges (you should try White Knight tumble dryers for that!). Initial reading was about 50k ohms at room temperature. Went down to less than 10k ohms within seconds when immersed in water at about 90°C. Conclude it must be main board . . .

    Thanks guys,

It was the fan; it had come loose a little on the shaft and had come foward until it fouled the casing attached toon the front panel.

    Best regards,

    Hi Penguin,

I see where you’re coming from, but can’t check until tomorrow. In the meantime, I’ve discovered (as you probably already know) it’s an induction motor and therefore no brushes.

But but why would you get this buzzing sound (and yes, it does sound like the old Mini fan in the cowling from back in the 1960s)? Does the fan collapse? There’s no way for a foreign object to get in because even the base of the drier is sheet metal . . .

    With thanks,

(the plug is already out and the capacitor discharged. . .)

Thanks for the extra info, will try to locate the device, presumably on the drum somewhere, next time I get access to the machine.

OK on the k-ohms and of course can check if I chuck it into a jug of hot water.

If not, as Clive mentioned, it could be the main board. Will advise asap.

    With thanks,

    Hi Clive,

Many thanks for the info. Understood that it could indeed be the board.

    Next questions:

Where can I find this NTC thermistor?
What values of resistance should it have, a) room temperature, b) 70 deg C (or any other temperature)?

    With thanks,

    More news,

The boss (wife) informs me that the flashing is continuous and constant at about 1 on/off per second. Upon opening the door, no water present, and no heat apparent.

    Does this help?

    With thanks,

    Thanks Penguin,

Will take a day or so due to availability of the appliance – obviously the pattern will give an error code . . .

    Kind regards,

Re: White Knight Tumble Dryer won’t tumble

    Hi all,

Thanks for all the advice. I’ve removed the capacitor and the internal disconnect seems to have operated, rendering it o/c. I’ll check this out with a component bridge later this week.

Assuming diagnosis is correct, I can get one FOC as a mate of mine works in a capacitor factory in town . . .

    Kind regards,

    Re: Servis M3311W washing machine

    Thanks again Clive.

The motor appeared fine, with no trace of water leakage, although I didn’t have a megger to fully check the insulation resistance.

However, with daughter and young grandson requiring early solution to the problem, an early Christmas present has been delieved and installed. So if anybody in the Great Yarmouth area wants a Servis 3311W for ‘spares or repair’ it’ll be available until the Council pick it up.

    Thanks again,

    Tony

    Re: Servis M3311W washing machine

    Hi Martin,

Unfortunately makes even more sense as thre might have been a resultant voltage spike from the motor fault to do nasty things with the board 😥

Maybe it’s time for an early Christmas present.

But why, oh why, do all whitegoods always seem to get terminally ill around the Christmas period?? 😕

    Thanks,

    Tony

    Re: Service M3311W washing machine

Thanks Clive – seems a good logical start. I guess if there’s a fault there, then a new motor could be an expensive item, unless it’s just a question of drying out the insulation. I’ll check tomorrow (later today).

But if nothing else is operational, could it suggest a timer fault as a secondary effect? On resetting the timer to ‘zero’ at least we got the door open and retrieved the contents, but upon selecting a test wash. the time does not click over.

    Thanks again,

Re: The use of PTFE Tape

Hmm, guess I can be too trusting at times – said he’d left it ‘in his other wallet’. Didn’t check out on websites either . . .

Reckon I need to get it checked out properly for insurance purposes.

Can I use the hob in the meantime, what with all this PTFE / non-PTFE thing? Seems to be working ok.

    Cheers!

    Tony
