Just rang me, told them I want payment up front, that changed their tune, said they paid on invoice, I said we do work when we’ve got the money. Sent them away with a flea in their ear!

Found fault, small triac on pcb just visibly blown out. Does anyone know the part number or spec for it? Can anyone look at their boards and let me know the info written on it? It is in position TR6.

Hi folks, they use butane as a propellant in a lot of aerosol cans nowdays, changed from the cfc’s they used to use. Butane is the main constituent of R600a. So you go from one problem to another. I can see us having more explosions like this as the fridges get older, corrode and people poke about with knives, also the DIYer and cowboy get to mess about with them!

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

Hi, customers who buy cheap items, treat them like rubbish hoping to get their “monies worth”, and if they are going to break down do it within the warranty. I used to do the same deals with customers, and as you have found out, you are doing nobody any favours any more. Don’t get me wrong, there is the odd customer who is over the moon with their purchase and rings you up to say so. But I tend to filter the “problem” customers out from “experience” like you have had. It’s better to walk away and sell it to a discerning customer than a PIA. It saves you a lot of money, grief and bad reputation (in the pub), than profit and good name.
Stop thinking about making money, rather “will my business and reputation still be intact in 4 years time after selling to this customer”. Set up a “black list” of bad customers to remind you who not to deal with, or who to get your money back off. The customer who says they don’t want to deal with you is great, it stops them causing you problems and causes problems with your competitors. Their reputation will soon get around and nobody will deal with them in the future, they will then come to you with cap in hand and you can tell them politely to B***** off.

What I do is send them to my competitors, they can spend a lot of time and effort with them while I am making money looking after my good customers.

Good Luck, and remember them in a few years time when they want something off you and all the trouble and expense they caused you!

Hi there, didn’t realise I was on the public forum. After I logged in it took me here for technical. Give my regards to Bob if you see him?

I have SIOS but can’t find that model listed. It was only the door switch connections that I wanted, but it looks as if the pcb is faulty. The woman is considering scrapping it now and buying a De-Longhi one.

PS, so do you work for Whirlpool? I see you are in Northampton.

    Re: Whirlpool Microwave

Hi there, we are trade members of the site. We have been repairing them for 40 years and are Authorised Service Agents for virtually all the manufacturers! Hence the request for help. If you are not able to give it, we will tell the customer to scrap it and don’t bother buying Whirlpool appliances again! We definitely won’t be recommending Whirlpool to anyone in the future!
They used to supply us with manuals when Bob Broglia was with them, but now as with the majority of companies, there is no-one technical there any more, and they are using this as an excuse to cut corners.

Why do Whirlpool always use a sledge hammer to crack a nut, when other manufacturers use something simple that works better?
