For anyone else who finds this post/thread in the future
Heating Element arrived today (Thursday).
“ElectruePart” – Heater CW Sensor Hole
Order Code
ELE9114To fit Hotpoint BWM 129.
Started fitting it at 11am ish.
Finished it at 2pm is – now it’s doing it’s first wash.
From feeling the glass door I can tell it’s heating the water – Hurrah!!! 🙂 🙂If I can work out how to post a picture I will.
Tips:
Before you start:
– POWER OFF And UNPLUGGED.
If you put a multimeter over the 2 prongs of the element
and get a zero Ohms reading – “it’s probably a duff element”
Make a note of what wire goes where.
Loosen the Centre nut in the heating element –
The nut when tightened compressed the rubber seal (I found this info on this board somewhere).
Using a screwdriver help the rubber seal out a bit at a time.
Once it’s removed, shine a light, to look for debris, bra wires, nails etc
Spin the drum very slowly to see if anything is protruding out of the drum.
Insert new element – making sure it meets the plastic guide inside the drum.
Wire up – double/triple checking wiring.
Close all covers.
Connect any hoses removed for access (curse the fitted kitchen people while you are at it!).Turn on and pray.
Thanks to UK White Goods (and google) I haven’t been fleeced by the £100 (5 year parts guarantee) call out thingy.

I’ve ordered a heater element whatsit from uk white goods.
I’ll let you know how I get on.
I’m struggling to find out how to fit one by searching google. I’m hoping it’s not a ‘take the drum apart’ jobby.
I hate plumbing type stuff 🙁

ParticipantRe: intergrated washing machine?
Is this a CON?
On having to purchase a new washing machine a couple of years back – it struck me how much more expensive the ‘fitted’ machines are.
They should be cheaper – as they have no lid, and no nice bottom strip.
That’s the only difference I can see.
Are we getting ripped off ?
