kwatt wrote:No, both appear to be different entities in some way, it’s very confusing actually and we have tried to talk to Which? but without much success it has to be said. 😕

The online review was published about two months before the publication of the magazine too so it would appear to have gone up instead of down.

In any event there’s little point in complaining to have an independent review altered as, if someone asked me to do that I’d be less than impressed.

Well, if you don’t want your machine to be rated online like it is in the magazine, then that’s fine.

I’m not saying you should ask them to alter their review, but if the Top 40 singles chart said that Madonna was number 1 on the online rundown, but said that Coldplay was number 1 in Top Of The Pops magazine, then something somewhere is wrong.

kwatt wrote:Na, Which are totally independent and rightly so. They won’t change what they’ve published unless there’s a glaring error as that is their opinion.

It can be annoying at times when things like that happen, but that’s life.

What I mean is that if the ISE machine really is in the top 10, then you should get them to update their online list.

Or maybe it’s now dropped out the list since the June magazine was published.

You guys need to speak to Which, cause it’s not listed as a best buy online.

Which magazine June 2007, I can scan the section if you like but it is there.

    K.

Yes, I would like to see it.

I subscribe to Which Online, which has no mention of the ISE in its Best Buys, in the latest washing machine investigation from June 28th 07.

2 days in, and after 4 full loads, it’s (as you’d expect) working alright.

Although Which Online give it a ‘poor’ rating for noise, i’ve round it exceptionally quiet.

Wash times too are far quicker than quoted. A quick wash at 30 takes about an hour, and a normal wash at 30 about 90 mins. Which say that a normal was takes 2 hours and 27 mins.

I’m slightly bemused about the instruction manual situation. If I wanted something manufactured, surely i’d be able to get my own instruction manual shipped with the product.

Anyway, the timer function is great.

Only time will tell if this machine is going to live up to its promises.

On the delicate washes the spin speed selected will be the correct one for the fabric type if memory serves me. Believe it or not I’ve not used that function for about a year but Martin may well know,

As kwatt says, the spin speed is automatically set by its respective programme setting (irrespective of the ‘Spin Speed Selector Knob’). That’s 1500rpm for cottons, 800rpm for synthetics and 600rpm for Woollens. 🙂

    Thanks.

Why don’t you ask the factory to stop sending out that crappy instruction book?

Regardless of whether another one will arrive through the post, it’s hardly confidence filling, especially when you’ve just taken a punt and forked out £450 on a brand noone’s ever heard of.

Is this the manual that was packed with the machine or the one sent to you?

    Came with the machine.

It’s not the most professionally produced booklet. It’s been photocopied from a master, and has a number of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

The engineer said to leave the spin knob on 1500 all the time, as delicate washes select their own speed anyway.

However, it doesn’t say this in the instruction booklet, and in section 5 says you should select the right speed for each program.

What’s the best thing to do?

I don’t have it digitally aside from which, Which may have a problem with that due to copyright restrictions. 😉

    K.

I have just taken the Which Online free 30 day trial, and have read the review, which is ok.

However, I really would like to see more independent reviews of this machine, other than those on UKwhitegoods or Washerhelp.

OK, have decided to go for the ISE machine.

At the bottom of this page: http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/product_ … cts_id=469
    there’s a quote saying

In July’s issue of Which Magazine the ISE CI555WH ranks in the top ten washing machines and one of only two AAA rated washing machines in that number!

Please could someone tell me which year that quote is from?

If we accept that the ISE machine is proving to be basically reliable, people are happy. The fact that an Independent will put himself out to get round and sort an issue promptly works for the customer. We read in these forums all too often of “out of the box” failures, 7-10 day delays on service calls from the Major Manufacturers, refusals to exchange and other horrors. ISE doesn’t work like that.

There is no perfect machine; but some are much better than others, in every price band.

    Penguin45.

Of the £499 cost of the ISE, is that made up from a machine that is actually worth £499, with free servicing….or is it a £250 machine with another £250 built in for servicing?

Is noone recommending the ISE machine then?

I’m thinking about paying the extra for the all in deal, but as there aren’t many reviews about it, I’m not gonna take it seriously.

It’s when it starts flashing after that that you’re in trouble…………

    Penguin45.

    So it’s knackered then.

The thing that bugs me is that we had the boiler (next to the washing machine) inspected the other day, and then the washing machine didn’t work the next time I went to use it.

But then what would the boiler guy have done? The hot and cold taps are still on and working. Drainage is OK. The thing at the bottom behind the kickstrip isn’t sludged or blocked.

    Thanks,

Have just been playing with it again.

The 10 flashes are when it’s got stuck, and the dial is clicking. It’s 10 slow flashes, pause, 10 slow flashes, wait, repeat.

When I turn the machine on from cold, it gives 3 quick flashes, then does slow flashes continously, and does not repeat the 3 quick ones.
