Re: Indesit WIE127UK – Just got very NOISY!

    Folks,

I put the original belt back on the machine and it stayed on… until yesterday.

That’s 2 months it stayed on for, and then it decides to fall off all of a sudden.

Will a new belt sort this problem, or is there something that causes the the belts to work loose?

    Cheers,
    MW.

Is that an Indesit part number?

And what sort of cost are we talking?

Re: Indesit WIE127UK – Just got very NOISY!

    Firstly, Happy New Year everyone!

    With regards the washer…

Thank you for all the suggestions – upon opening up the machine, the problem was blindingly obvious. The concrete block on the top of the drum had about half an inch of play! Tightened up those 3 nuts and all is (reasonably) quiet again.

Unfortunately, after only 2 washes the drum stopped spinning… now, as i said in my original post, we have had this problem before when the machine was about 6 months old. The technician came out and took about 5 minutes to sort it.

Anyway, I opened up the tub again and saw the belt had come off. Checked it for splits (etc) but it looked fine. Put it back on and it feels quite tight – no slackness. But now when the machine is on and running there is a, well, squeak every so often. I guess it’s the belt slipping or something – it happens most often (and loudest) when the drum has water in and is trying to lift the wet clothes up from standing.

I have been told that on some washers you can alter the motor’s mounting to effectively tighten the belt… but on my Indesit the motor’s mount points seem fixed – no where to move them.

    Any thoughts on this?

Do i just need a new belt?

    (original/current belt is “MEGADYNE P/ EL 1061 H8”)

    Thanks again.

Re: Indesit WIE127UK – Just got very NOISY!

Thanks to all those who’ve replied.

First off, thank you johnnyj for correcting the the costs charged by Indesit… (BTW, do you happen to know if they’ve been working this week? After my first call on Tues(?) i’ve been unable to get through since. Nor have i had a reply to my email.)

As for the sound it the machine is making… well, i do actually have it recorded on my mobile! (The missus wouldn’t believe me when i told her it was REALLY loud) I can get this sound onto the computer if you want it!? 😀

I’d say it sounds like the ‘dull rumble’ that gets louder, but the machine is also vibrating/moving more than it used to – so i suppose it could be the concrete ballast or something? I guess i need to open it up.

    With regards the possibilities…

Drum bearing failure – dull rumble getting louder with speed.
Concrete weights breaking away – thudding and banging noises.
Heater off bracket – noise akin to a machine gun as speed increases.
Drum support failure – clatterings, bangings and scraping noises.
Suspension leg ripped off chassis – drum banging in casing due to excessive movement.
Coins and other foreign objects in drum or pump.
Drum pulley loose (unlikely) – thrumming and clonks

…should any of these things be happening after only 13months of usage?? I.e. would i have a leg to stand on in the small claims court, if it came to that?

The machine has been used quite a lot, but as there’s only two of us in the house i doubt it’s had the sort of usage it would have had in a family household.

Once again, thank you for the suggestions.
