Re: Hotpoint SE661X oven cutting out

With the covers off, if I turn the power off and back on, there’s a loud clicking from the main thermostat. When the oven is on, when the stat cycles in and out, it’s sparking quite badly. I think we have our culprit!

It looks straightforward to replace the stat itself but where is the thermometer/thermocouple routed to?

Cheers K, as soon as it’s cool enough to handle, I’ll get the oven out of the cabinet and get the meter on it.

So, a bit of searching reveals it’ll either be the safety thermostat (cheap) or the main thermostat (not so cheap), how do I diagnose the right one? I’m hoping it’s the safety stat as it looks like an easier job!

Thanks, I’ll get one ordered. Either that or a new pack of pegs for the Mrs.
