Thanks. If I went the budget route is it better to get a 7/8kg version or 10kg if the price is both the same? I read here but an old article that 10kg machines dont clean as well as the lower kg ones due to how the clothes tumble down and also the tight packaging can mean more issues – being an old article is this still valid wuth todays machine? Because if it is i was thinking just getting a 7kg instead of 10kg even though they are priced like nearly the same? Sorry for the nerdy questions but its interesting!

It’s most likely the heating element.

Get yourself a multimeter and google how to test the dishwasher heating element for continutity/ohms.

Re: Creda 47916 Does not complete programme

    Hi,

Just an update that changing the heating element did fix it – I just wasn’t letting the dishwasher run long enough!

Half of the heating element dips down and this was touching the pool of water and therefore heating it up. It wasn’t touching the water alot, probably half the height of the element. The rest of the element seems to be heating the air – this seems to be by design and I didn’t realise this was normal and therefore was too quick to turn it off worrying the element might blister like the old one did which probably blistered due to age.

The other thing that made me think the dishwasher was still faulty was because I timed how often the mechanical timer turned and it was every minute. I thought it was getting stuck at the main wash cycle (and final rinse/dry) part because timer didnt turn after 5 mins but it takes longer than this to heat up to temp. Prior to repair the dishwasher was running all night – I thought it was still exhibiting this behaviour but let it run and after about 1h45 it completed the programme without me touching it so it was only the heating element that was knackered after all.

Looks like I can hold fire replacing this Creda 47916 for now.

    Thanks.

Oh I can’t afford it yet – I’ll have to save and it might have to be The Wife’s christmas present, she won’t be happy 🙁

But then I don’t want to get the Hotpoint level either if it won’t last 10 years.

I’ve never spent that much on a white appliance before if I get the Miele.

I was hoping I could fix my Creda because I really don’t have faith in the new appliances nowdays. This Creda must’ve lasted 20 years and I bet the equivalent Hotpoint/Indesit won’t match it for reliability.

    Thanks.

OK – thanks for the advice.

Will shop for a new semi integrated one – any recommendations appreciated.

(Was thinking of the Hotpoint LSB5B019X at £300ish but worried it might not be reliable enough so then thinking of Bosch or Neff at around £400 and then I’m thinking may as well spend £500 on a Miele G4203i)
