Dave/Kevin,
What are GE or Admiral appliances like?
Some of these come with a 5 year warranty and claim to be true American kit.
Whilst dearer than any Currys or Comet kit when you take a Currys or Comet appliance add the costs of a 5 year warranty and delivery the GE or Admiral pieces aren’t too much more expensive.
Cheers,
Phil.

BLOODY HELL !!
Well, I’ll give Whirlpool a whirl (pardon the pun).
But I’m not holding out for a god result.
Looks like a new appliance could be in the sidelines.
Any thoughts one what to buy? Must be side by side with chilled water and cubed/crushed ice.
I have looked at Currys and Comet (they now seem to be as cheap as anywhere on the internet), and offer interest free credit.
I’ve spotted these models, any thoughts on them? What to avoid etc.
Samsung RS21DCNS £699 Currys
Daewoo FRS2031IAL £699 Currys
Hotpoint MSZ703NFD £799 CurrysSamsung RS21DGRS £800 Comet (Ins was £169.99)
LG GRL206CPQA £599 Comet (Ins was £209.99)

Kevin,
The number is 110237006633.
Are these boards able to be fitted as a diy job?
Although the comment regarding the SAM module makes me think I should get Whirlpool to check it out first.
K’ching….k’ching….k’ching.
Anyway a price for the boards would still be good. Thanks,
Phil.

Thanks for the quick reply Kevin.
The 12 digit number is 8586 152 15000.
If I could figure out how to insert an image or attach a file I’d post a .jpg of the sticker with all the details on.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Phil.

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool S20BRBB20-A/G and it’s cistern?
Already been done, I expect them sometime on Friday afternoon.
Finding this site has been a marvelous help.
Being able to come to place like this for advice is a godsend.
It’s just a shame that these days you feel you can’t trust someone to give you an honest diagnosis without doing all the research first.
I certainly wasn’t happy with what my partner was told this afternoon as it seems to make no sense. If the chap was correct I apologise…………… but I’ve watched too much TV!

Thanks for the prompt reply.
So my question would be, why does the compressor require replacing when the freezer is fully functional?
Is there one for the freezer and one for the fridge?
I was under the illusion that the unit worked by drawing cold air from the freezer and shoving into the fridge via a fan.
This would certainly be backed up by the startup of the fan everytime the fridge door is closed. It must sense that the temp is too high and be trying to cool down the compartment but cannotI have spoken with the engineers recommended by this site and explained the situation, they seem to think it could be half a dozen things but not the compressor.
Cheers,
Phil.

ParticipantRe: Not refrigerating Whirlpool S20DRSB33
Thanks for the advice in the post. The actual model number of the unit is S20BRBB20-A/G, just found this next to the salad drawer!! I am assuming that there would be no massive difference with regards to how the fridge section is chilled. I have emptied the freezer and there is no apparent ice build up, so I am going down the defrosting route. Yes, you were correct that the fan kicks in as soon as the door is closed, but no cold air gets into the fridge – well maybe a touch gets in as the fridge has never hit room temperature yet but not so much as you’d notice a breeze passing your finger tip. The freezer is working fine with no excessive freezing and there are no error codes on the digital display.
I guess I have to be patient for a day, fingers crossed!
Any further thoughts anyone?
Cheers,Phil.
