ParticipantRe: Bosch WFO2865GB Filter Leaking
I hate finding unfinished forum threads…
Armed with the above information, I asked for help at the spares section of this site. There were three possible filters (each about £10) depending on pump manufacturer, but I was advised that “the BS51120 is a ‘pattern pump’ so none of the listed filters will fit” and I would need to order a complete pump to get a replacement filter.
After the prompt email response in the spares section, the order processing was equally fast, and, having paid the extra for courier delivery, the part arrived the next day. Can’t complain about this for service!
It seemed silly having a new pump and just swapping the filter over, especially when there was a chance that the housing thread was damaged rather than the filter. Twenty minutes later, the washing machine has a new pump fitted and no leak!
Thanks UKWhitegoods (and hopefully this pump will last longer than the previous one!)

Thanks for the idea; it did the trick. I discovered there was no obvious manufacturer’s name, but the following was written on the label:
Drain Pump
R20-6
30W 0.2A
20l/minI managed to take some photos of the pump and the filter (see http://pbckt.com/sg.vON)
However, I also remembered that I ordered the pump from this site, and found the order details from September 2008…
The pump is a “BS51120 – Bosch & Siemens Washing Machine & Washer Dryer Pump” but I am certain it did not come with a filter/housing.PJ50040

Hi
Thank you for the information. 🙂Is there any way of telling which of the two parts I need without removing the pump from the machine?
(I fitted the pump, so I know what’s involved and don’t want to make extra work for myself if I don’t have to.)PJ

Any suggestions for a temporary fix?
PTFE tape? Silicon sealant?

aqualectric wrote:Have you spoken to your house insurer? Glass oven doors are often covered under accidental damage. As the glass door panel (in green) is around £200, I would be tempted to see if you are covered for such things.
Many thanks for the suggestion, Steve.
I did get in contact with our insurers, and the glass breakage is covered (although I’m not certain that ‘spontaneous explosion’ would have been covered — ‘fortunately’ my wife was cleaning it at the time so the damage was certainly ‘accidental’…)They sent an engineer out, who decided it was Beyond Economic Repair…
…so now they’ll pay for a replacement cooker!! (Which will NOT have green doors…)

Washman wrote:Your question was answered in your previous post…
Without wanting to sound rude, the question was NOT answered, which is why I started a new thread with a different emphasis. The ‘turning-upside-down’ trick appeared to fix it, but only while we were at home. (Once we were away it was obvious it was not working.) The previous post was mainly to ask why turning-over should have an effect at all (which was helpfully answered).
In this new thread, the fridge is essentially non-working, as turning over for a few hours has no long-term effect; hence my questions: what’s wrong with it? is it repairable? is it worth repairing? (see original post).

Hadn’t thought about trying the insurance, so I must look into that.
If we can’t make a claim, then the cooker will be changing colour – can still get white parts at ~£60 (plus matching grill glass) which is cheaper than a comparable new cooker!
Any idea why the green price is four times higher than for other colours?
Is it simple scarcity, or are they made to order? As for the handles, annoyingly, we only need the ends – the metal bars are undamaged – but I bet the ends are not supplied individually. However, we need both oven and grill handles, so the cheaper type should be fine as long as they fit. (As they have to screw through the door glass, and hence should have the same fixing and dimensions, what is the difference between them?)
Thanks

ParticipantRe: Camping Fridge – how do you explain this?
Dales-Electronic wrote:Quite simply, your system relies on two chemicals that mix together and seperate as heat is applied. Over a period of time they migrate from where they should be to another place. If you turn the appliance upside down they go back to where they should be. This however does NOT work with a conventional system
Thanks for that.
