ParticipantThanks. Sadly none in the shop are compatible.

ParticipantPretty sure that’s the number I found.
The problem I’m having is deciding on which supplier to go with as there are so many offering simuilar shocks – I’d assume all sourced from China.
Any pointers as to who’s reliable offering decent quality?

ParticipantI’ll order a pair of shocks and hopefully that’ll do the trick. The red grease on the surface probably tells all.
Any recommendations for a supplier/brand? There seems to be a huge number of different makes and I’ve no experience of these things so would appreciate any guidance you can offer.

ParticipantYes. Inner and outer seem to be moving together, so hopefully that rules out bearings and/or spider.

ParticipantThanks for the reply Dave.
Axially – along the axis of rotation, so pushing straight onto the centre of the back of the drum,. WIth the lid off, it looks like all the movement is the whole drum/tub assembly. There’s not a lot of up/down movement.
I’ve had a look inside and the only thing I can see that looks suspicious is the shock absorbers.
There’s a bit of red grease about that doesn’t look right, though this is the first time I’ve seen this type of shock absorber, so not sure what to expect. Our last washing machine was a mid 80s Servis, and the shocks in it were pukka hydraulic units.

ParticipantRe: Cannon Windsor Mk2 Glass Top Bracket
Finally got round to having a proper look at this yesterday and it turned into a ten minute easy fix, Three screws to release the side panel and two to release the hinge assembly. The spring isn’t loaded so it all went back together easily.
No need for a Gas Safe ‘engineer’.qb
ParticipantRe: Cannon Windsor Mk2 Glass Top Bracket
The hinge assembly is easily accessed behind the side panel but the hinge assembly actuates the top down hob shut off valve, so I don’t want to mess with that. Also, there’s no obvious way to stop the spring going wild!
I’ll revert to drilling an access through the trim panel to poke the screw through. It’ll be hidden when the cooker’s pushed back and that way, I’m not interfering with any functional components. Thanks for your help.

It’s the screw that holds the lid bracket onto the hinge assembly that’s come out.

It’s a 10296G. Looking at it, the trim strips look like they should pull out to the back, but removing the screw and inserting a narrow blade at the front end just moves the white plastic section above the control panel forward.
