Nice one bigsmokepiker.
Thanks for your helpful advice
Yes the machine was powering up
Yes the lid switch you indicated is the problem – when it is bypassed the machine will start normally.
This might be too much to ask, but I can’t figure out how to access the switch itself to remove/replace the switch harness. I got hold of an exploded parts diag which is only mildly helpful and i know where to buy the part, but short of a major removal/strip down not sure how to get under the top deck assembly to find it.
Is there a sneaky way to do it?Just had another look – is it a matter of removing the 2 plastic caps at the front then just undoing the 2 screws?
Apologies if this is a stupid question
Thanks

ParticipantRe: GW708 won’t drain
Spot on Penguin45 thanks for your advice. Machine is working again!
I found the easiest way to drain the machine was to tip it back to get the last bits out scooping it with a cup – not sure if there’s another way but i was reluctant to put it in its side in case this did something to the mechanics. even so I was surprised by the amount of water which came out when I untwisted the pump. This water I suppose was in between the inner and outer bowls. I found I had to disconnect the pump wires in order to have enough play to twist the pump off. OBVIOUSLY I HAD DISCONNECTED THE POWER FIRST DON’T WORRY PENGUIN. However because of the water coming out I checked the flying leads connectors for moisture before I reconnected them. I did all this through the access hole on the front – not sure if its the best way but it worked for me.
Hurrah for Soviet Republic of Yorkshire and all who inhabit it!
