machine was made may 2006 just for your interest
heater
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/d321…eating-elementsince you cant use the machine before you order take out the old element and look for mechanical damage. What i am trying to make sure is there is nothing wrong with your drum before you put in a new heater. what can happen is the drum spider fails and on spin the drum can catch the heater and wear through the metal causing a short. So look for signs of contact about two thirds down the heater
Dave
Urgently need this fixed, worried about smoke or issues where our young baby is concerned though, willing to try this part as you and the shop seem to believe it is the correct one even though it’s length is reduced by 40mm, so I guess I need some luck here with no confirmation from anyone.
However, just before I put the new heater in I can see a groove on the old one near the beginning of the element at the end where the seal is positioned. Would this be the drum spider fails as you say above. What is required? Would it be a new drum or repositioning etc? Any help appreciated

At no point have i ever brushed you under a carpet. This is not a fair comment.
i have checked and double checked my links and tried to find an answer. the shop is the only one who can say for certain its ok to fit. that way if it does not do the job you can get back onto them
but i do have some gardening to do now so suggest you ask the shop if its guarenteed to be suitable alternative to 12029196 despite the length difference. I cant answer that
Dave
I thought you said you have already done this earlier in the trail?? Can you provide me with the phone number and email address you say you contacted them on please

Participantelectrofix wrote:the link takes you to a part, you then have to place the part in a basket and then provide an email and address it can be sent to. So they will know who you are. The only thing i did was to give you a link to the part the website was saying was an alternative. Its no different to me giving you a link to ebay or Amazon.
i have no connection to the shop other than the help i give here
Dave
The shop is the only one who can confirm its ok to use
Can you provide me with the phone number and email to the shop please and have they contacted you yet as you say you passed the information on?

Participantelectrofix wrote:put the gen part number in the website you get 2 parts
one is
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/d321400as-compatible-washing-machine-heating-elementscroll down and you see a list of menus one is marked “more info”
look at alternative part numbers and you will see 12029196 the same number as you can get off the bosch website. Which means as far as the site shop is concenned this is a suitable alternative to that number
if you need any more info you will need to contact them. I was just following a numbers trail and as you can see i was not guessing,. i dont guess, i have been doing this for over 40 years
Dave
Please provide me with the details,so I am able to contact the shop or are Bosch saying it is safe to use this one as an alternative and with 40 years experience are you recommending using the one 40mm shorter or is there a way of testing this by moving the drum by hand?

Participantelectrofix wrote:no unfortuatly all i got from that is a gen part number
put that into the shop site and that gave me 2 alternatives gen and non gen. i checked both and they do list gem part no as equivalent. Its only when i checked another source that i got a different part no for the alternative
looks like the site may have made a mistake and i am sure there will be no problem returning it for a swopAs i said i have emailed site Admin with the problems so he will get a personal message from me outlining the problem in detail. He will prob be online sometime later
As far as fitting is concerned there are only 2 things that matters
1 is it long enough to hold under the front element support. This stops the element from waggling up and down during spin. if its not in it may hit the drum
2 is the flange the same so will it sealit cant blow your machine as both parts are heaters and both are thermally protected in case power is supplied without water in the machine to prevent fire
Dave
Is there a way of testing this by manually turning the drum to see if it knocks?

have sent a message to admin am trying to find out if the site may have got a wrong link
looking at another source i get
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/htr72-bosch-washing-machine-heater-element
as eguivalent. Is your old unit 265mm long ?Dave
Any news on this being the wrong link yet?

ParticipantIf you have the other part in the workplace and you are there tomorrow, can you not check that and send it instead?

ParticipantI need this resolved with my incorrect part replaced as soon as possible,I cannot afford to purchase another one, please arrange this if you have provided me with the wrong part or confirm 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} that this is ok to use. Participantelectrofix wrote:still dont know what you mean but if you want to make sure
send back the element for a refund and
order direct from the manufacturer here
https://www.bosch-home.co.uk/customer-service/spare-parts-search
that way if you get the same element you know its correct because Bosch supplied it
Dave
Did you not know what you were doing then, did you guess a part?? Please explain because I cannot possibly see from the information you have been given how you can order one not even listed
shadzuk
ParticipantThe part you have me a link to order has arrived and it is 40mm shorted than the original part I removed, in this thread you were finding out if it can be used if you look back you will see. Are you saying this is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} compatible for me to use then or not? Please confirm. As I said I can also supply pictures, but I have already supplied you with the measurements and the part number/model inside the door. Please confirm if it’s ok to use. If it’s not please provide me with the shop information so I can raise a complaint with them directly

Participantelectrofix wrote:not sure what you mean now
got correct part number from bosch from the manufacturer which is 12029196
type that into site shop and you get 2 options one gen and one non gen both should be correct
if you search both listings under “more infor” it does give the number above as an alternative part no, and that is why the listing was brought up on a search. So the site is saying its a correct part. If this is incorrect then you will have to contact the site. mistakes get made, and although its inconvenient when it happens, no one does it on purpose. you need to email the shop, send them a link to this thread by all means and ask them the questions as i cant answer for them
DaveAre you now saying it is the correct part even though it is 40mm shorter, please show me the confirmation of this here

DaveI have no correspondence from the shop due to it being ordered via your link.
This is your error please rectify this with the shop and provide me with the correct part, we cannot afford to catch coronvirus from your mistakes -
