ParticipantRe: Rubber pads – a good or a bad idea?
It’s not making knocking noises, and I’ve been told by others that the machine is not really unusually noisy (I’m not really that familiar with washing machines yet, I guess :)).

OK, thanks.

Thanks, K 🙂

ParticipantRe: How to remove programme selector knob?
I see on the sticker of the machine that the last “00” of the product number I wrote earlier are separated from the remaining digits, so perhaps the product number should only be 914 526 692.
Anyway, here’s an example of what the knob looks like:

Anyone knows how to remove it?

The model is an AEG Electrolux LN79689A3. The product number (which I assume is the PNC) is 91452669200.

Thanks for the info, hotpointtom :).
Another thing, do current Elux HEC-based machines have problems with premature bearing failure, or was that just a problem with other, older Elux models?

Probably a non-UK model, as I couldn’t find it on http://www.aeg.co.uk/. The most similar machine on that site was this one:
http://www.aeg.co.uk/Products/Laundry/F … s/L74950A3
Unlike that machine, the LN79689 (which I’ve ordered, by the way) has a 1600 RPM max spin speed.

Yes, I think I’ll have a look at the Asko W65672W.

Thanks again for the quick response, kwatt :).

I don’t think the ISE is available in the country where I live, but the washing machine on the http://iseappliances.co.uk/ site looks very much like an Asko (and I see the website also says that the ISE machines are made by Asko). I haven’t looked into Asko machines yet, but I intend to do so before making a final decision.

ParticipantRe: How do I know whether an Electrolux washer has a welded
Thanks, that was quick :). Not to mention a lot clearer than the responses I’ve received from all the salesmen I’ve asked, all of them basically said “huh?”.
Am I right in assuming that generally the high-end Electrolux machines have split tubs whereas the low-end ones have welded tubs? Or is there a risk that models in all of the range may have the welded ones now? I initially considered buying the cheaper EWF167320 (which was “Made in EU” and not “Made in Italy”), but I assumed that the probability of this machine having a welded tub was greater than the more high-end EWF168540.
