ParticipantRe: Why Users Are Anonymous
I completly agree with Kwatt’s sentiments.
I used to work for gias, or more commonly known as hoover candy. I remember once being drawn over the coal’s for advising a customer to check the drain pump filter on a machine under warrantee, to avoid an unesscesary future charge for a simmilar problem.
However, unbeknown to me this call was to a senoir manager within the hoover candy group, and my comments were passed on to my Team leader, Then esscalated through to management, whereupon I received the Hairdryer treatment. As I remember the quote was, ” you have not acted within our revenue generation scheme” Or management speak for, we could have made money from that call.
The issue is manufacturars dont really give a toss about their customers so long as they dont cause a fuss, and complain too often.
And this is never so more evident than at the blunt end of the market, where so many engineers on here work.
Almost every manufacturer in the market Has technical data which they like to keep to themselves and not release, even on equipment which is well outside its warrantee. I think that its not short of protectionissim by the manufacturers, which I thought was outlawed by european law.
Suffuice to say, any information which comes into my domain from the manufactures I will be prepared to put into the public domain

Just for your info, I keep a log book on the van with a few Least encounterd faults with a few notes on the fault and subsequent remidies, listed under
manufacturer make and model then its just a quick look through the log and usually Bingo, without hours of head scratching.
Hope this may help

Do all of the manufacturers who employ service engineers test for colour blindness?I say this out of experience, because when i worked for hoover candy i went on one of their training courses and all of the delagates on the course were not tested.
however when i worked for B T a few years ago we were tested at the interview stage.
Just a thought !!

Jim Fairbanks wrote:Hi,
I’ve had a new Candy washing machine for 7mths and then the heating element packed up. Surely this shouldn’t happen after a such a short time.
We went for a Candy because our last machine of 11yrs was also a Candy. In that time, it packed up once ( required a new pump).
Has Candy’s build quality dropped or is there some kind of inherent problem that they won’t tell us about?
I wouldn’t worry too much about a drop in standards, the problem with the heating element was proberbly due to insufficient care being taken when the element was installed at the factory.I went out to a job on a candy built-in washing machine, which the user had only done about 5 washes and had started triping the R-c-d in the consumer unit.
when I isolated the fault to the heating element and took it out there were scratch marks on the element, caused by the element not being inserted into the clip on the T-S-G. If the element does not go into the retaining clip properly it becomes slightly angeled up-wards and drags on the drum when it rotates. Thus reducing its life

ParticipantRe: Hoover TV630 – Filter Care Light on TOC not o/c
A word of WARNING with regard to the heating element on the TV630.
If on inspection of the heating element you have the older style element (This can be identified by the cardboard surrounding the element) and which effects machines 15 months or older.
Then you will require the new style heating element (The one with ceramic) or HM1.
This has been a safety issue with Hoover Candy as some models were prone to catching fire. and when i was working for them all TV630 models had to be inspected

ParticipantRe: Hoover E1 and E2 errors
The E1 error code usualy indicates that the machine has exceeded the check time for the fill, heat or empty.
you could try checking the pressure pipe from the pressure switch has not looped below the top of the reservoir. or that the Eco ball is not sticking.
with regards to E2 error code this indicates an open circuit in the thermistor.
Hope this may help
