Just an update- replaced the sieve cover and the noise is still there! Going to live with it I guess as the machine works perfectly 🙂

Would have good to get to the bottom of it just for knowledge!

Think it’s sorted now, it seemed to be the inlet tube sitting in the sieve filter housing, slight crack on holder, very hard to see. I glued it in place with a plastic splint, and no noise! However after about 15 mins or so the water got hot and the noise came back so removed the bottom arm and the noise goes away…so think under pressure the issue seems to reappear as the holder given way.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Thanks Andy and Electro. for the replies

Andy did as you suggested and removed the connections to the sump and checked all that including the sieve filter and nothing in there or loose.
I disconnected the pressure switch as well, shone a torch through and the black rubber elbow heater connection but nothing at all loose, broken or wedged in there…

The sieve filter is also clean as is the spray arm inlet tube..

I’m now more intrigued as to the issue..! The dishwasher does work apart from the whine…

In order:
1. Jammed the bottom one – noise still there
2. Jammed the upper/middle one – noise still there
3. Jammed top one noise still there

Then I removed the base one and the noise is gone?!

HOWEVER, once the washer got heated to the 65c setting I tried the above again but this time when I removed both the bottom and middle arms the squeal (although less) was still there!?

Today I replaced the main wash pump and the heater, wash pump replaced as thought it was the bearings causing the whine. The heater was replaced but in the end I found a cut wire in the wiring loom, however, rather than replacing the new heater back for the old one I kept it installed.

Thanks

Thanks all – really appreciate the feedback, gone with a mix of Beko, Indesit after the concerns of spares and quality.

Thks Tuba and Steve for replying. Just to update and help anyone…it turned into a drama!…I replaced the pump but the sieve filter still seemed to allow the water pipes to pop out slightly..I got 2 replacements but both seemed poorly manufactured as the wash blade would not fit tightly. I then got the old one and glued some small bits of plastic to act as a brace. It all worked until the water pressure switch packed up so replaced that and all good! The machine keeps going :)…

Btw ohms on the original pump showed it was still good. I also had to replace the drain hose as it cracked due to age! but wasn’t blocked.

Thks

THANKS DAVE,

You sorted it you star!! I stripped it back to the sump as you were convinced it was the hose and kept pouring boiling water but it did not out pass the removed drain pump side, eventually after a lot of pours it seemed to give way, I assume the fat or gunk just melted.

Anyway ran the 30min wash and all good.

Thanks again for spending so much time replying on a Sunday.

but if I can hear the drain pump running and have replaced the original with a new one?

I’ve checked the drain spigot under the sink and its clear as well?

Hi Dave, sorry here is more detail.

Yes the pump energises.

More Info: I put it on the short 30min 40degree wash as a test, everything works as should, jets spinning and heater working.
Part way through (possibly 15-20mins in) there is a quietish period where I hear a whir (as if the drain pump is spinning but unable to drain any water). This goes on for about 3-4mins and then the machine flashes 4 times and continues to bleep.

When I open the door, the water is hot and steam is released. The base is full of water.

I then turn eveything off, touch the drain pump which feels warm (this is the case for the new drain pump and old one that was replaced)

The first time it did this I removed the pressure switch, it wasn’t that grubby, a build up of grease but I cleaned this all, checked the diaphragm membrane which is not split and can hear the microswich clicking.

When I checked the continuity (with the pressure switch removed) I get continuity across pins 1-3, 1-2 and 2-3. When I press the diaphragm down I get continuity across pins 2-3 and no continuity across pins 1-2, 1-3.

Thanks

Hi Dave, Yes checked the wires, I’d reinforced the plastic cover to the wires before and all wires are intact.
