ParticipantWell well well, I have taken the door apart and as you may be able to see from the images. The 10 wired loom has suffered some damage. I think from heat and from being forced at a 90 degree angle (not a clever design). All 10 wires have been resoldered and now dishwasher working as it should.

ParticipantHi Dave, thanks. I will guess I will take apart the door and investigate. Thanks.

Hi there, thanks Electrofix. That sounds quite likely as when I switch it on, the LED’s dim slightly!!! Anyway, it is working intermittently at the moment….with a little persuasion (frantically pushing buttons, turning the selector knob and opening and closing the door). We thought it may have something to do with the door connection to the actual washer.
So what you are supposing is that it could be the programmer? So would that be located in the door with the selector switch? Thanks.

😆 Hello everyone. Well the latest news is the washing machine is now fixed. I replaced the door switch and it had no effect 😡
I then proceeded to look further into the problem, I took the pcb out, that is when I found that one of the tracks had completely burnt away as if something had lifted it away from the board. Out came the Kynar wire and the soldering iron. Put everything back and hey presto!
I am hoping that this was because of the nuetral / earth reversed problem.Sorry to put you kind engineers out of business and thank you all very much for your help in this forum. 😆

Yes I think I do mean the circuit breaker.
Really? I didn’t think that the circuit breaker would go before the plug fuse! You learn something new every day!
Thanks.My next question.
The door switch lock (That I have just purchased) seems to be open circuit just like the faulty one…..when I buzzed it out with the Multi Meter I would of thought by moving the switch I would have a circuit. Any reasons why? I suppose it needs mains does it?September 7, 2006 at 10:41 am in reply to: Creda 1000 Supaspeed EcoWash blew consumer unit fuse #187590specialbeat

Thanks Jim.
I am still very unsure why the consumer box fuse went intead of the plug fuse.
Would it be because the earth and Nuetral were reversed? Thanks

OK..what I will do is replace the switch with the new one…..If that fails, which it probably will, I will then seek help from someone in my area of Thatcham, Berkshire. I have found a couple of numbers…..just hope I don’t get diddled! I will open up the washing machine before he comes round as to save time and cut labour costs ….ha ha…..am I tight or what!
How much would a new PCB cost for a Creda 17086 then?
Thanks.

Oh no.
I have received the NEW door switch and buzzed it out and is the same as the old one! So it looks like the door switch is absolutely fine!
One must presume that the switch only works when there is mains running through it.What do I check next? Anyone??????
Thanks.

Hiya.
I have had a tinker with the washing machine and realised that someone had the wires round the wrong way in the plug. The Earth was going to Nuetral and the nuetral to Earth……HOW THE HECK DID THE WASHING MACHINE WORK IN THE FIRST PLACE??????
Anyway, I have put the wires back to normal and still doesn’t work…..I bet you are all thinking that something has blown!!!!!! Well I checked the door switch (a brick coloured plastic thing with Metaflex (Model M4) written on it) and I have buzzed it out with a multi meter and there is nothing there (no contact) when pushing the switch in.Does everyone agree with me that this should be changed????
Thanks.
ALSO….the model number (all i can find on the back of the washer) is IPX4September 5, 2006 at 10:52 am in reply to: Creda 1000 Supaspeed EcoWash blew consumer unit fuse #187578specialbeat

Hi.
The machine litterally was running for about 1 minute I would say!
I am not sure if the water was still there….BUT, I could open the door STRAIGHT away as if the lock had switched off…I suppose this presumes that there was no water in the drum!!!!!!!!
I will find out the model number and post here tonight if that helps then.Yes unfortunately I don’t have any knowledge of washing machines at all, and lets face it, I am going to have to get someone in to have a look at it…..how much do these people charge for estimates etc…..I obvoiusly don’t want to be stung!
Thanks guys.
