Hi Rocketman, part No. for the Proline PDW080 washmotor is 672050250055, if you google part No. you can check if the picture looks anything like your motor. Info sourced from the old Comet tech library which can sometimes be a bit wide of the mark, best to double check.

I take it you can select a different prog before closing door? If the drain pump runs for a short while and (if you listen carefully) you can hear the water coming in, after this the wash motor should kick in. At this point you may be able to hear an almost audible humming noise of the stalled/siezed wash motor, it’s a common problem with these Diplomat (Whirlpool) machines.

    Re: comet…again!!!

My wife popped into our local Comet today, the back of house guys were removing all the hotpoint & candy appliances off the shop floor, said they are not allowed to sell their products any more? The staff also seem confident they will be there until January but are worried about getting any redundancy payments and wont be hanging around if they get the chance of another job. Must try and pop in myself to get the low down.

Arghh! Vestel, when I worked on brown goods their stuff was real cheap quality i.e. Goodmans. Will be interesting to find out if their whitegoods stuff will be any good?

It was my understanding that as part of the deal when OpCapita (for OpCapita read bas**rds) “took over” Comet from Kessa that they HAD to keep trading for a minimum of 18 months!!

That dryer thermister causes a multitude of weird faults on these newer inde/hotp washer dryers. Easy to eliminate, just takes 2 seconds to hook up a new one. Then half an hour to remove and split the heater box if it was faulty!!

    Re: comet…again!!!

This news must be a major blow, just 7 weeks from Christmas, for all the dedicated members of staff. (Although we did see the writing on the wall) How will going into receivership affect their redundancy payments? Us engineers may have been the lucky ones!! Still feel sorry for all the good friends made in retail over the years.
