Back to the subject matter.
Hear it was a good meeting on Friday, and I gather there were representatives from Connect present.
Now then…..
In view of the possibility that what we are hearing is or is not true, did the Connect representatives stand up and make an announcement? After all, if there is NO truth in them losing the whole of the Currys contract, then they had the perfect opportunity to stand up and publicly allay some fears.
If no such thing happened it may as well be assumed they are ashamed of themselves, and would prefer to keep their agents/repairers in the dark.
Having heard nothing to the contrary, and not seeing anywhere regards any announcement, I must assume therefore the facts are as we have them.
All that is needed now is a date. Anyone got any ideas?

If anyone doing the DSG Work via RC is worried or concerned about possible repercussions of such a move, I’d recommend making the same phone call.Ade 🙂
I hope you are right, mainly for the sake of those that more or less rely on this work.
I do wonder if the R/C manager is only passing on all he/she knows themselves. The problem this week has been, more people have been talking about this becoming reality than have been denying it? You will note there has been no information volunteered from Connect themselves unless people like yourself corner one of them.
Apart from Comet, I heard from more than one source regards British Gas taking it on. Where will it all end?

As you say, nothing in response from CDSL Also nothing from any of the agents. Either they are like mushrooms, or they have been reassured, and sworn to secrecy.
Being there is a posting on their forum, you would think they would fall into one of the two above.
So I dig a bit deeper. Transpires Comet engineers have been getting phone calls on their mobiles (Comet issue) asking if they would they like to become part of this exciting new initiative as Know How are setting up a service organisation in the model of Comet. (Oh dear)
Seems like some senior manager/director of Comet has jumped ship and gone to DSG. If the same regime is followed, eventually all the calls would go in house.
This begs a question, how long will NESN be getting the DSG Bosch Coverplan I wonder?

Whether this deal was done on the back of work being offered to those involved nobody knows but it would not surprise many as this sort of thing appears to have happened in the past.
Wow! So what you are saying is a deal was done in a back room and the council were not actually involved.
Is that how democracy really works? Surely that goes against the DASA constitution.
Iv’e not had one of the Mike Day Private messages I hasten to add.

TBH .. This situation and the way it has come about does not supprise me considering that so many of the WP are in bed with DASA anyway….Nevertheless, it does seem from the way that DASA have acted upon the information that was given to them, that DASA are interested purely in member numbers & revenue.
The fact that DASA have associated WP links within the DASA Council speaks volumes and that doesn’t bode well at all for the independant when it comes to getting anything done with regards to the security of work of the independant against the WP.
This is another reason for thinking that DASA are only interested in the cash and the member numbers and not in the person or the trade… otherwise, DASA would be open to question from any interested party. George
Yes but they will not gain any new members now I suspect, they have opened themselves up by being closed. I bet a lot won’t be renewing.
Does anyone know what the “Spread-sheet” is about re the AGM as posted in the snippets a couple of pages back as taken off the DASA website? I wonder if that is yet more of the likes of JTM & Connect etc they want to add to their group.
I must admit I thought DASA was in place to assist and protect the Domestic Appliance repair industry, and I thought that meant us. How stupid of me, It is clear now they more interested in the Manufacturers and agencies such as JTM & Connect.

I have to say, I see where everyone is coming from.
I said earlier they called their extraordinary meeting last Summer to deal with Connect reducing prices. Should have known better than to rely on such a hollow promise when Connect are on the council.
Lions lead by Donkeys don’t even come into this one.
Look a bit deeper & you see JTM (0800.com) are also on council, along with representation from such as ISDAL & NESN. Who’s side are they really on?
Hit the following link, and this may be their epitaph.

ParticipantRe: 0800 Repair
As Dr dill has just pointed out, it makes you wonder if in fact DASA would have even reacted had it not been for the postings in this forum.
So guys take a pat on the back. This now begs the question whether DASA are really doing anything or just trying to curl up in a corner somewhere.
Do they really think they are holier than thou, and beyond all this, I bet they do!
Reading the traffic earlier, which I presume is from their “Closed” site, then it seems the councillors have to abide by the ideology of their esteemed leader, who it seems is out of touch with the real world, or wants full control.
This begs the question whether the councillors actually have a say in these matters, or are they happy to meet up 4 times a year, talk the talk, eat drink & be merry but get nothing done.
Which leads us to the point….. Have DASA actually done anything for us? Somehow I don’t think so! For example, what happened to the “Extraordinary” meeting last year when Connect reduced the rates, nothing that I can see. There again, Connect are an intrinsic part of their organisation, so what can you expect.
I have a feeling that DASA are about to Haemorrhage a whole lot of members over this. Not that they have many in any case

I wouldn’t put up in a forum an email sent to me from your Chairman, Ade
Well put, it would be highly unprofessional of you or anyone else come to that, to make public what was sent to you as a private e-mail.

DrDill wrote:Surely the DASA chairman will respond, and i do not see why this forum cannot be used as his platform to put the record straight, as it would be more cost affective and be seen by more of us.
Can’t see that happening, I imagine he has probably never even been on this site.
He may be kept up to date by one of his deciples (Councillors) but if the last idiot that represented DASA on this forum is anything to go by, might be just as well, so don’t hold your breath.

teka, caple, de dietrich , rep-careNo volumes though, won’t pay the wage bill etc. Once the major side of the contract tumbles and agents start to re-structure the operation there is a risk to the whole account. Then the “quality” accounts may well move on.
funkyboogy wrote:dont know how currys are managing to set up a national network of repairers without anyone getting wind of it ..
strikes me as all smoke and mirrors – as im sure someone on here would have heard of something ..
Enough people in Connect are aware, this has been rolling around since before Christmas, and so far there have been public denials, but reading between the lines of these denials it is plain that Connect are in the dark as much as the repair network.
As Ken rightly points out, Poisoned Chalice.

ParticipantRe: Repaircare ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!
There are a lot of Repaircare agents who are totally fed up with them.
As Blokes says totally unreasonable uncaring profit driven organisation.
Reduction in the rate, the motives of which are questionable.
Imposition of guarantee rules that they once proudly said would never happen.
Screwing down agents on credits & returns where they take 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} on goods returned where the job has been closed by Repaircare, or where there has been a write off due to the delay THEIR end.
Debit notes where machines have been exchanged internally or by Currys and they then decide not to pay the last call, including the parts you fitted
No serial numbers on products. Repaircare give a generic one, pay up only to take the money back again in 3 months as “serial number incorrect”
They have got a lot of the loyal repair network by the danglies and they damn well know it as some of the poor souls that do their work are committed by size and staff levels.
They don’t respond, they don’t listen & they don’t bl00dy well care.
Makes me seethe!

Participanthelo_75 wrote:i dont think the manufacturer would dare to supply the part without the correct conversion, would they?
Probably not.
Every board ordered for a Zan D/Washer I have seen have come with this connector with Strict instructions that must be fitted I would say since day one.
I would have thought in this case the issue lies with the supplier of the board, being that the component/instructions were missing. Assume was a genuine board, and a new one as well.
Can you remenber if the yellow tape was intact where the connections go on the replacement board, if not had been fitted somewhere before.
Perhaps the Service Force boys can confirm how long ago they started putting this connector in with the board.

ParticipantRe: DSG/RepairCare Rate Cuts
This is weird.
Repaircare agents are getting phone calls from Connect.
Fascinating point number one. Phone rings, and on comes this cheery voice, goes along the lines of that in view of the situation regards bad feeling and drop in profits on the Repaircare account, they are looking at altering the parts discount structure. By that they mean not increase possible profit on spares against the service work, but improve the margins on parts purchased for cash calls etc.
I daresay the responses on that must have been interesting. No doubt a lot of the repair agents are only buying bits to service the contract, and source the day-to-day bits elsewhere. Hence the phone calls as they have seen the general sales take a drop.
Fascinating point number two. Another Connect operative is phoning around agents and querying performance results etc.
I bet once again they are getting interesting answers as I’m sure most agents are no longer applying any sort of urgency around this work at all. No reward, no incentive why bother.
Engineers will do what suits in the time scale that also suits, and so be it.

What is happening on that? I read somewhere you were finishing with Connect end of October, but you offered to assist with a transition for another 2 weeks. Did that happen, or are you still assisting? I gather you still have access to their repairers site.
washdoctor wrote: When I ring the guy to confirm the appointment, I HAD to ask why he’d chosen to book with Repaircare other than me directly. His response “I’d forgotten your web address so I Goooooooogled oven repair in Cardiff, and up they came. Arnt you the same people”…….!!!!!!!!! 👿
See that last question “Arnt you the same people”…. 👿
Adrian 👿This is where the Google adwords kick in. I suppose in the customer’s eyes you are the same people after all he would get the same repairer in the door, but just happens to be paying someone else. Unless of course you have parted company wth Repaircare.
