Yes Whirl 4 and Mr Dales you are both right. What this thread and the old one from the days of Yore need is to remain on track and the feed of information to be coming from those in the know, and the ones who are mainly affected. Input from other parties outside the loop is welcomed, as long as constructive.
It is very strange that there has been no response at all from Repaircare, and I gather not even any phone calls to those who are posting on the Repaircare forum. Reassurance it seems is long overdue. They must be losing respect daily and by more and more of their repair agents.
Maybe we are all correct in our conclusions, and they are looking at their feet and have nothing to say on the matter, who knows? If we are wrong, they need to tell us and prove it.
As it happens Repaircare have apportioned the blame to DSG and they have tried to tell everyone they themselves are the good guys. I wonder what DSG make of all this, and if they value their reputation even?
When I hear of who got paid what regards Repiarcare, or Electrue in this case, (this information is on the net through Creditsafeuk.com) I start to wonder. Gross profit 31/10/2009 £24,122,000 and Directors Dividends of £7,278,000. I understand we may be talking apples and pears, but when repair agents cannot afford to give their staff pay rises and to invest in their own business, it really is not on.
What bothers me now; ARE THE VULTURES CIRCLING? Meaning, the providers of other contracts surely are looking at this affair and getting worried that the repair network will start to take the eye of the ball and treat their contracts with the same negative outlook and attitude. If so, then what must be starting to happen on the DSG account with K.P.I.’s etc are bound to be reflected with the likes of Brandt, Rangemaster and Caple to name just 3.
As pointed out by Whirl 4 there is an old thread that has been sleeping for 5 years and now it has been brought back to life, but with a total role reversal. The Wicked Witch of the North has now become the Wizard.
Some say that the work has been placed by DSG to NESN to demonstrate to Repaircare that they should not get complacent, and DSG are still aggressively operating a competitive tendering regime. Sadly for Repaircare though, they don’t seem to have any answers as to why NESN can pay up to £12 more per call and provide a speed of service fee.
Now we all need to avoid the dust as the ivory towers crumble to the ground.

Just goes to show that Connect took the agents for mugs. Perhaps not as daft as they were taken for.
As regards the free holidays, that ceased to be a year or two back.
I daresay most of their agents have now lost respect for them and if they have any sense are looking at that part of their businesses with a view to opting out or reducing areas in order to reduce the liability.

The work is on appliances outside of the warranty period, the initial 24 months, so DSG would appear, on the face of it, not to have bought out the Bosch warranty but are looking to reduce costs on the repair work once the Coverplan cover kicks in.Qualtex are handling the spares side of things.
However, the really interesting part of it is, where does this leave RC with the whole DSG contract, will they lose it? Will DSG try to “spread the work around” to try to get better service? Where does this leave the RC agents if their workloads drop, especially in light of the recent rate cuts?
What I do find enormously strange and, to be frank, it just doesn’t add up at all, is how that the rate for the Bosch work is considerably higher than the RC rates for other DSG work, same client, different rates!!
K.Surely you have that slightly wrong? Connect are squeaky clean, at least that is the impression they have tried to convey.
Connect have told their agents the DSGi contract was re-negotiated subject to going to a cheaper repair network. On the strength of that Connect have assured the repairers the severe reduction in the rate was out of their control, and of course they (Connect) are not the villains of the piece.
No doubt the K.P.I’s have been compromised as the repairers I would guess are visiting calls “when passing”
Do I presume NESN are paying more and taking less of the slice of the cake? Then to add insult to injury, this relates to the same insurer.
Those who carry out work for both contracts will soon be able to do the sums. I have already seen a variation of £11 meaning there is a risk that Connect get £17 per call, and screw the engineers, literally.
No wonder their network is crumbling, and the quality of repair is diluted. They have removed the speed of service fee, so there are no incentives. It is sad really as they looked like being the mould for the industry, now they are about to break this mould!

From what I gather on the grapevine is Connect are phoning agents trying to get them to do calls that are out of area. I believe in the main we are talking Coverplan work.
Is this because there are smaller agents on Holiday, and they are shifting calls down to 2nd, 3rd or even 4th tier agents.
Or, is it because some agents are refusing the work, placing obstacles or simply have left.
Connect seem to think Denial is a river that flows though Egypt.

I think they have bitten the hand that feeds them.
For sure a lot of their agents must have lost respect for Connect and their methods. These engineers are the ambassadors for the network, and if they display the vibe they are not happy to the customer, things will look bad.

Hasn’t this got a bit silly. This was a serious thread regards the pros & cons of Yellow pages, now degenerated into an English Lesson.
Re the subject matter. I have read with interest and can see Yellow Pages is a waste of money. However if you are relying on contract work, and in particular Connect with their outrageous rates, then perhaps it may pay to seek out potential chargeable work, and kick the robbing lot from Birmingham into touch.

Thanks for your help Penguin. I’m not sure what you refer to when you say a “piccie may help”.
