Thanks guys a Bosch it is, I already have junk in a tin box so will never be buying AEG again. By the way is the AEG a Zanussi with a different badge, the similarities seem uncanny?

Thank you for the prompt response and yes the Dishwasher did talk to me when I looked at the PCB with a blown capacitor and that was not all that was fried, the dishwasher had develeped a small leak. It said get rid of me now as I will become a money pit. I thought AEG was meant to be a cut above the rest! I had a hotpoint for 9 years and not so much as a hiccup, I only got rid of it because it was not integrated. This AEG is 3.5 years old cost over £500 and is scrap. Glad I got that offs chest. As I am now in the market for a dishwasher (my kids are moaning as they do not believe they are a replacement) what model would you recommend and can I kindly ask your thoughts on what you think about a hotpoint HFT228a? You advice wil bee graciously received.

ParticipantRe: AEG LAVAMAT 16830 Error code EFO
Hi, I have learned turning the machine off at the mains and leaving it for a few minutes does reset the error. It would appear that I have another issue. Can you please advise if a blown motor can impact the control board and cause an EFO fault.

Hi, part arrived today and is now fitted. Unfortunately the fault has not cleared EFO is still displayed and the buzzer sounds. Do you have to perform a fault reset to clear the stored error? If so can you please advise how?

Thank you. I have made the purchase. Here’s to hoping this one will last longer than the last.

Thank you, I removed all the hoses but other than a thin lining of slim they were clear. I decided to remove the pump that was recently fitted, to discover the left hand coil (when looking from the back of the pump) was black and the plastic on the side of the pump was completely melted away. The Pump is an Askoll model M224 XP Art.296004 Cod. 50266741003 is this the correct pump for this machine. I asked my wife if she smelt an electrical burning smell and her response was “ahhh that’s what the stink was, I though at the time that was a funny smell.” A bit of a clue I think! Can you please advise the correct pump and price and where the best place to buy it from is?

I cut the plastic away from the top of the connector just enough to reveal where the wires are secured. I used a pair of long nose pliers and removed the broken part of the cable still located in the connector. After cutting the final cable tie to release more of the orange cable, I pushed in one of the orange cables into the top of the connector and insulated with electrical tape. I then located and insulated the second orange cable ensuring enough electrical tape was around the top of the connector so that there was no possibility of a short.

Again thank you for the very prompt response. I removed the filter from the front of the machine and it is as clean as a whistle (I flush out the machine once a month with a washing machine cleaner, nothing fancy just tesco’s own brand with a cup of white vinigar). Is there something post or pre filter I should clean out? As a point to note, although the machine is a washer dryer the dryer it is not used that often. I read in this forum that the condenser tends to block up on this model but mine had a little fluff but nothing that was going to restrict any air flow (I removed what was there while I had the back off the machine).

Thank you very much. You are absolutely spot on, both wires were broken off. I cleared the broken wires out of the connector and then reconnected both orange wires, tested the dryer and it worked!!
The route cause appears to be the excessive swing on the drum assembly. As the orange cables to the temperature sensor are quiet neat in terms of length. I noticed that the small pulley on the motor that drives the drum has put a dent into the back cover. Can you please advise what would make or allow the drum to swing so far back that the motor pulley smacked off the rear cover, snapping both cables for the temperature sensor?
(Note for those who encounter the same issue:- On the sides of the unit where the outer clam cover joins, at the bottom there is a screw on both sides behind white plastic caps. Place a thin electrical screwdriver in the centre hole and pop off the cap, to review screws with a 8mm head. If you remove the obvious screws as well the back of the units slides out easily)

Thank you for the response, it is appreciated. The dryer is now reporting E20 which is a drain fault 😥 . The strange thing is it works fine as a washing machine, so can you advise why it is ok as a washing machine but when you turn on the dryer the Water Inlet Valve is faulty. This just baffles me (washer/dryers just baffle me) – Any explanation is welcomed.
