ParticipantRe: Bosch WMO2864GB/01 Spin not happening at all ?
I checked chose, they had about 1″ remaining.
While I was checking over the motor I seem to have found the problem. The ground strap crimp terminal had fractured so the ground wire was not connected to the motor body. When I put a new spade connector onto the earth wire and connected it to the motor, everything seems fine. I’ve tried several washes and so far ok.
I’m a little surprised this lack of grounding caused the problem, but it seems ok now.tonyb61
ParticipantRe: Bosch WMO2864GB/01 Spin not happening at all ?
I’m trying further tests. I ran a couple of rinse cycles wth an empty machine, and these seem to go through ok, but the timer jumps from about 10/11 minutes to 1, and then 0 after a fill/empty cycle.
If I try a spin, the timer shows 11 minutes, and the machine does a couple of slow rotations in each direction, sometimes seem to start spinning up but then stops, the timer display goes completely black, and then goes back to 11 minutes, and the progam reruns, the timer jumps from 11 to 1min left, then 0 and stops.
Does this help ?tonyb61

iadom wrote:In my many long years of experience I always get an increase in poor spin complaints at this time of year. Whilst some are obviously faulty a significant number have nothing whatsoever wrong with them. Some people often say “its getting on a bit, it seems to be slowing down’ .
Come the spring & summer and the complaints reduce dramatically.
One reason for this is that in winter the clothes are being rinsed in very cold, near freezing water and they are not in fact wetter but a darned sight colder. They will also take longer to dry in the tumble dryer as well.
Jim.
If you can wring the clothes out by hand and extract some water quite easily, I’d say that wasn’t down to being cold ? 🙁tonyb61

Are you finding the slow spin is occurring when you have big , heavy , absorbent loads in i.e bath towels or bath mats or if the load is small ?It seems to be the same with all types of loads. We’ve had the machine for several years and my wife only used to use upto about 1200rpm as the washing was dry enough at that speed, but now even on 1400 it still seems quite wet.

gegsy wrote:A quick test with a multimeter on ohms setting on fan terminals (with the power off to appliance) should indicate whether its ok or faulty.
Although sometimes they can read ok but they cannot turn due to worn bearing/s or grease ingress causing restrictions 😕Greg
I checked and the fan resistance was fine. I removed it from the oven and powered it from the mains. I could see it was rotating slowly and sometimes almost stopping. I took it apart and cleaned it up and it runs fine now.
So for the moment looks good.
Thanks for the help.tonyb61

Cooling fan on both the GB/01 and 02 is 140210. If required the spare is available from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk 😉Greg
Do you think the fan is more likely to be faulty than the control/relay ? The other fan comes on ok so I guess the fan is more likely ?tonyb61

If you can give the full model number off the oven, that will be handy in correctly identifying parts you may need 😀
GregModel No is E Nr U1661N0GB FD Nr 8201

For the five years we have had the unit, when we use the gtrill, mainly for toasting, we never have shut the door and the controls did not get hot, until now ? Is it wrong to do this ?

gegsy wrote:More likely to do with the cooling system IMO.
When you switch on the oven, do you feel a flow of air from above the doors in each cavity ? If so then the cooling system is ok. If not then either a faulty cooling fan/s or control relay for the fans 😉Power off if you are to investigate :plug:
Greg
On the main oven I can feel a small flow of cool air from the vents just above the door. but not from the vents above the small oven/grill.
Can you normailly get to these items without removing the oven form the housing unit ?tonyb61

if yuo havent changed the brushes it would be a good idea to do so.I haven’t yet. I wondered if they were likely to be worn.
The brushes sold on this site seem to be just brushes not the holders too. Do you just carefully bend out the tabs holding the brushes into the holder and replace the brush/spring assembly ?
