Many thanks Don – that puts me on the right track.

It was more luck than judgement that the old Scandinovas were chosen. Good to have it confirmed that it’s time to move on!

My tape measure is armed and ready 🙂

    All the best, Brian

    Thanks again KW.

Back to the drawing board then … and I thought I had this almost cracked 🙂 I found this

    The Best Ones!

As you would expect the words “best” and “cheap” are, usual, mutually exclusive. That is to say that if you want the best in terms of performance and longevity then you have to invest more in your new dishwasher to start with.

Until we introduce the new ISE10 dishwasher, late this year or early next, the best you can get is a Miele. It’s not cheap and they are not cheap to repair but, they are extremely well built and should last over a decade very easily, most will see 15-20 years of normal use quite comfortably.

The entry level Miele full size dishwasher is the GI220SC for which we’ve dug up some prices as below. It’s a nice machine, if not very stylish but then the Germans tend to focus on Teutonic efficiency as opposed to fancy design, more function and not so heavy on form. However this approach pays off in many ways as it’s harder to break them.

You also get a simplicity that only the Germans and Swedes seem able to do well so, six programs but oh so simple to use. And, this extends to things like the basket design and cutlery baskets, it’s just well thought out and exquisitely designed. With all models in this price range it is the little niceties, the care and thoughtful design that pays off and, to a large extent, what you are paying that little extra for.

A quick UKW and Google search came up with washing machine info … not DW 😕 And found you support Martin Lewis 😀 Please say more and if poss give a price indication.

    Cheers, UKW fan

    Re: Bosch SGS69L 12GB or Siemens SE25M276GB?

    Thanks KW.

I thought I remembered someone saying Logixx machines are made in Germany … and found this from Martin the Moderator

The Classixx range is made in their Spanish factory from components and tooling imported from their main factories in Germany. Only the cabinet is manufactured locally. Exxcel and Logixx ranges are made both in Germany with many electronic parts imported from their sister factories in Poland, Turkey and Spain!

The Siemens group after all is spread throughout Europe and Asia

So if the SGS69L 12GB is German made but the Siemens isn’t (or is it anyone?) would the two still be equally good … and factoring in the 5-year Siemens warranty?

As I hope this DW will chug on for 10 plus years – just want to make the best choice – and I know this is a bit crystal ball gazing 🙂 I am very tempted by the 5-year peace of mind.

    Cheers, UKW fan
