ParticipantRe: Servis Tumble Dryer not heating….
Thank you Penquin45, upon further investigation the trip had indeed tripped and the culprit was a clematis preventing the flaps of the exterior vent from opening properly. Senior management has been informed and requested to keep her garden under control!

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFX2867GB/01 still trips MCB during heating cycle
I’ve already swapped the MCB for a spare one (new and unused) so I’m fairly confident that the MCB is not at fault. Getting my hands on a clamp meter could be a problem so what I’ll do next is to plug the machine into a different circuit to make absolutely sure its not the house wiring. This will have to wait for the weekend as I am unfortunately away from home all week.
After I changed the heater element I tried it on a 40 degree programme and timed how long it would take to trip…. the first one happened after about 7 minutes, I then reset the MCB and it tripped again after about 10 seconds, After a second MCB reset it carried on quite happily until it tripped a third time at 12 minutes. Again I reset the MCB with another trip after about 10 seconds but following one further reset it carried on quite happily to the end of the programme. This seems to suggest that it is tripping at very specific points in the wash cycle, i.e. perhaps when something else in the system is switching but I can’t think what! Any suggestions?

Correct. I’ve also pressed the test button on the RCB to check that it is working properly.

Hi,
Its a standard 30A MCB (radial circuit with 4 x 13A switched sockets). Other equipment on this circuit are a fridge/freezer, microwave and a tumble dryer but it still trips the MCB with all other equipment disconnected.September 26, 2009 at 5:14 pm in reply to: Bosch WFX2867GB trips circuit breaker during heating cycle #297708Wizz

Ok guys, I’ve fitted a new heater element but sadly it still trips the MCB !! If anything it may have improved very slightly because it hasn’t tripped yet on a 30 degree wash. The fault seems to be more to do with drawing too much current rather than shorting to earth because the RCB never trips. Has anyone got any other suggestions please?
Many thanks,

Many thanks for the ohmic value, its definitely on the low side (somewhere between 16 and 22 ohms… my meter needs calibrating!!) and you’re spot on about tripping 7 to 10 minutes into the wash cycle. I’ve been searching on the internet for a spare part and believe the correct Bosch part number to be 265961…. please could you/are you able to confirm and can you recommend a supplier? Ideally I need to source a part in the next couple of days.

Thanks Penguin45, that was interesting reading.
Having had a quick scan over the various discussions in your link, it looks like step one is a thorough defrost. Failing this, replacing thermistors would be a good idea but can you tell me what their part numbers are and how to change them. Failing that then its either time for a replacement or a service engineer but there doesn’t seem to be one of those in the Taunton area! Don’t suppose you have any contacts that you can recommend please?

Gentlemen,
I am overwhelmed by your collective response and intrigued by the debate that its caused. It would be great to do this without taking the front panel off so I’ll give it a go… although I have to say it looks like I’ll resort to plan ‘A’. I’ll let you know how I get on!
WizzPS. For your reference the model number is WFX2867GB/01 and the gasket part number is 361127.
