Great advice. Put it on its back and managed to reach through the drum to the bolts. Got them loose and part way out with a torx. Had to use an allen key to get them fully out once they were loose enough, torx too long.
Old one out, new one in, back together and its running. Drum fixings seemed ok. I’ll see if its fixed the knocking when it gets to the spin cycle, but so far so good.
Many thanks again for helping out.wolfiesmith
ParticipantRe: Indesit WIDXE146 "door" fault
Brilliant advice. I checked the cables around the motor all fine, but my hands ere covered with carbon. I checked the brush and it was very worn. It is in a fixed housing, but spring loaded, but was very worn. I adjusted the fixings to push it closer to the motor and on restarting the machine it burst into life. Why the error message was “door” is one of lifes mysteries. I will order a new brush.
This is a heavily used machine, I have 3 kids.
You have saved me the cost of a new machine.
Thanks again.

ParticipantRe: Indesit WIDXE146 Washer Dryer F-13 Fault
Just to let you know the outcome (and anyone else googling the same fault in future), it turned out to be the dryer thermistor.
Before posting here I rang the Indesit Technical Support who were worse than useless. They said F-13 for my model Washer/Dryer was definitely a problem with the water supply, probably a restriction to the water flow, and would I like to book a service engineer. I couldn’t see anything wrong with the water supply.
After advice here that it was a dryer fault, I took the top off the machine (unplugged it first) and tested the dryer element with a multimeter (googled it, seemed fine, about 50 ohms) and the dryer thermistor. This was a few meg ohms and googling it, it ought to be a few k ohms. Bought one off the internet and fitted it. Had to take the snail shaped dryer section off and take it apart to change it, took about an hour for the whole job. Just needed a couple of torx screwdrivers and a new tie wrap to re-fix the inlet.
Thanks all.

ParticipantRe: Indesit WIDXE146 Washer Dryer F-13 Fault
Hi,
Is there anything I can check to identify which part of the dryer is at fault? What is it most likely to be?
Thanks,

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Aquarius Washer Dryer Trips Electric
I fixed mine (sort of). I disconnected the heater element on the drier section (after a process of elimination) and it works ok now as a washer. Very rarely used it as a drier anyway. Why it only tripped when I shut the door, I don’t know. I presume shutting the door puts power onto other parts of washer. Just need a new drier heater now.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Dug a bit further though now its daylight. Have found that if I unplug the cables (9 way plug) from the main board at the bottom left of the machine, to the motor. Then when I operate the doorswitch, it doesn’t trip the RCD. Is there something on the motor that’s made live when the door is closed, which might have an earth fault?
Thanks,
