    Sorry, forgot to pop back to update. I think Helo had the right idea – the fridge eventually dropped to the right temp after the freezer froze.

    Understood 😉 I just wondered if there was something simple and not risky I could try before resorting to an engineer callout. There is no way I would touch anything connected with the gas.

    Thanks for the quick reply. Both the hob ingniter and the oven turn off at the main cooker switch. Does this mean the hob will be hard wired into that, or am I looking for a separate switch/socket behind the kitchen units?

    (I had a look behind and under the cupbards, but everything, including the oven, is fixed and immovable, so visibility is limited and I couldn’t see anything.)

    Also, if I am unable to do anything myself, can I still use the cooker while I wait for an engineer? For various reasons, this has happened at a particularly bad time so it could be some days before I am able to be in to wait for an engineer, and not being able to cook is a pain.
