Re: Hoover washer wont spin even after new brushes fitted

odom wrote:Were the old brushes worn? Did you check the motor armature for damage/raised segments and use a comm stick to clean armature and bed in new brushes?

Before spending money on a new motor unplug machine and use a multimeter to check continuity of wiring from board to plug – tug all wires on motor plug to check none are loose. Check resistance through pins of motor and let us know what these are.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the help.

Yes the old brushes were worn.

The motor armature did seem OK and not having a comm stick I cleaned it with electrical spray and a cloth.

I will open it again and check the wiring.
Unfortunatley I’m only an amature and dont own a multitester.

Is there any other advice you can offer while I’ve got the back off.

    Thanks again,

    Thanks,

iadom for the advice and slap on the wrist!

I guess you live and learn…the hard way in my case!

I think I will take a punt and try replacing the pressure switch. But can you please confirm if the pressure switch could still be faulty even though it clicks on and off as I blow down the little tube?

    Thanks,
