The Glen Dimplex Group has acquired LEC Refrigeration Plc (“LEC”) from the Malaysian conglomerate, Sime Darby Group. The transaction is subject to formal approval by the Sime Darby Group Board which is expected early next week. LEC is one of the UK’s leading domestic and technical refrigeration manufacturers. LEC’s domestic products are sold through the main electrical retailers and it’s technical products through commercial, marine and medical distribution channels. LEC has a turnover of €35 million and is located in Bognor Regis in West Sussex.
Founded in the 1940’s, LEC has a strong brand heritage and at one point was the number 2 brand in the UK refrigeration market, with one in four homes having a LEC appliance.
