Two hundred Electrolux workers facing redundancy at the Orange plant may be offered a helping hand from the Federal Government.
The Prime Minister says he will look into an assistance package for workers after the Independent Member for Calare, Peter Andren, questioned him in Parliament.
Mr Andren says Mr Howard should be offering something similar to the $50 million package the Government gave to Adelaide after Mitsubishi decided to cut jobs.
He says support needs to be given to the victims of free trade.
A community forum to discuss the Electrolux job losses will be held on Friday at Orange’s Ex-Services Club.
