(Greenville, January 5, 2004, 6:17 p.m.) By Friday, Greenville will know if Electrolux and its 2,700 jobs have a future in Greenville.
In a last-ditch attempt to keep those jobs from moving to Mexico, the city assembled its economic incentives proposal.
On Monday, the mayor of Greenville personally sent the package out. By Tuesday morning, it will arrive at Electrolux North America Headquarters in Augusta, Georgia, where company officials will review a package including a new factory and tax breaks.
The union also prepared its incentive package on Monday. Electrolux officials plan to come to Greenville on Friday to announce its final decision.
