LG Electronics has decided to close down its microwave oven plant in England and shift complete manufacturing to its Ranjangaon plant near Pune, India.
The India plant has the capacity to manufacture three lakh units. The company plans to make about 1.2 lakh microwave ovens this year. LG Electronics President K R Kim said production was shifted because of high labor costs in England. Mr. Kim was hopeful of shifting more product lines from high cost areas to India.
