LG has won a patent argument in court over three key patents that are alleged by LG to have been copied by Daewoo in their current washing machine range in the US and, quite probably, other territories as well.
LG sued Daewoo in 2008 alleging that Daewoo had infringed the patents protecting the washing machine drum and drive system however Daewoo claimed that LG’s patents were not valid and unenforceable.
The case was brought in Wilmington, Delaware and a panel of jurors, after a week long trial involving washing machines being in court, rejected Daewoo’s argument that LG’s patents were invalid.
A trial to determine damages has not yet been scheduled although it is widely expected to follow.
